I've often thought about this idea from Makster and whether its most intense cases - when characters are not just unlikeable but outright evil, while also being charismatic, glamorous, or just fascinating - can be problematic.
What do you think? Are there other examples you'd name, from mild (unlikeable but not necessarily villainous) to extreme (pure evil) that are difficult to hate? Is that harmful? Is it a failure on the part of the author?
