I stumbled upon this really cool Kickstarter project that might be a game-changer for us streamers. It's called the MBox N4, and it seems like an awesome alternative to the Elgato Stream Deck+ but for the half of the price.
Here's the rundown:
10-Key Visual Macro Keyboard
Dual USB-C & USB-A Hub
Four rotational knobs
Touch Screen with visuals
This device is all about enhancing our workflow and making things more efficient. The programmable macro keys let you quickly switch cameras, mute your mic, or launch apps with just a touch.
What really grabbed my attention are the knobs and customizable software. It seems like I can use it with video editing software like Vegas Pro and DaVinci Resolve. The knobs would be great when working with a video timeline or adjusting parameters like color grading.
This type of device can elevate the quality of your streams to a new level by eliminating pauses and alt-tabbing when you need to mute something or enable a feature while you’re in the game. Even with a dual monitor setup, it still takes time compared to a single button press.
Another big quality boost is if you're streaming solo without a additional camera-man. You can set up two cameras, with the second as a close-up, and switch between them with a single press to reinforce your narrative. This trick, usually done in post-editing, can be performed live with such a device.
I know Lanah Tyra recently bought a Steam Deck. Is anyone else using or considering a device like this?"
Please note, this is not a actual review, as I do not own the device yet. Everything you see here is based on my expectations and wishes from the materials I found on the Kickstarter page.
