Ok, my content creator friends, this is the moment most gamers wait for all year. Kölnmesse is already preparing the site for Devcom and Gamescom in August. Last year, Gamescom attracted 320,000 visitors from over 100 countries, making it a key event on a global scale. While it might seem like there’s plenty of time, the real work starts now. You need to book interview slots, find partners and sponsors, prepare a content delivery plan, and complete many other steps. One of the toughest tasks is booking your flight and finding a place to stay!
This is a consumer's day, on a press day there are maybe a few people here and there, but no lines for hand-ons.
Important Dates:
Devcom: 18.-20.08.2024
Gamescom ONL (Opening Night Live): 20.08.2024
Gamescom: 21.-25.08.2024
The first step to getting there is passing accreditation. Some might think that the tickets aren’t that expensive, but a press/content creator pass gives you access to B2B areas where you can meet companies and developers for interviews, one-day early access before trade visitors, and you can also enter the conference 1 hour earlier.
About 30k people are waiting to rush in, one of the benefits being a press is a different entrance ;)
The administration has already opened accreditation forms for journalists and content creators. If you qualify, you can get an all-access ticket to some of the most exclusive areas of the conference (and no, I'm not talking about cosplayer dressing rooms, but you might get access there too, hehe).
Accreditation Forms:
If you don’t meet the criteria, try writing a motivational letter explaining how they could benefit from your coverage.
If there's enough demand, I’ll put together a journalist’s Gamescom survival guide, sharing my nearly decade-long experience to help make your trip efficient and stress-free.
For now, good luck, and don’t delay this for too long!
