Teh High-Sec Exploration PvP

High-sec exploration offers PvP opportunities that many players overlook! Here, you’re not gearing up to shoot red NPCs - you’re gearing up to shoot the players who are shooting red NPCs.

An ideal ship for this is the Heavy Interdictor. With its impressive natural tank and long-reach scrambler, it’s perfect for paralyzing targets. For example, consider an Onyx, tailored for hunting explorers in Gallente or Caldari space, where most players carry only kinetic-damage ammunition and you have 93% resist to it. You can fit it with:

- A local tank to withstand hits from NPCs or victims.

- A scripted 20km scrambler to lock down your target. (or 37km in discupter mode if they are AB-ffited)

- MWD to quickly close the distance.

- Mjolnir Fury missiles, which exploit the EM resistance holes in most shield-tanked ships, to melt your opponents.

What’s the Plan?

You roam around combat anomalies and signals - not to clear them, but to steal loot and flag yourself as a suspect. If someone decides to punish you for your theft, you know what to do!

Be careful with agro in a crowdy places

The great part is that complete newbros won’t suffer- they’ll struggle to figure out how to disable their safety settings, so they won’t be able to attack you. So worst case - you are getting these tasty C-types invuls, best - them and loot for the player.

Happy hunting!

Master Level Advice

Advice for players starting out in PvP - first of all understand that everything in Eve Online is PvP. PvP stands for Player Versus Player and Eve Online is a Player Versus Player sandbox. Mining, Industry, Exploring, Factional Warfare, Fleet Combat - everything in this game, even trading, is PvP. So there is no "avoiding" PvP in Eve Online. The worst thing you can do is pretend otherwise.

Undocking is consent. Once you are out in space you are being hunted by someone. So it is important that you master a few fundamentals that will help you survive. Especially if you want to participate in the more direct forms of PvP and express yourself with missiles, guns, and actual combat strategies and tactics.

OVERVIEW
Take the time to set-up your overview properly. What the heck does that mean actually? Ok, first of all, trying to jam everything you need into ONE overview is just plain silly. You are going to need a few Overview tabs to properly organize everything. Once you start thinking about your overview as a category function, it starts to get much easier to deal with.

My overview is set-up with FOUR tabs: PvP, Fleet, Drones & Loots. Your needs may vary. But why clutter my PvP overview with Blue Ships? Or swarms of drones? That stuff gets confusing! Spread those things out over multiple tabs and life gets much, much easier. Some people have a tab set-up for running away, but that seems negative to me. So I can't recommend it. (But you may want one anyway, hint hint.)

The PvP Tab is going to be the one you use the most, the rest are support tabs. You can practice adding and subtracting things from the main tab on the fly, but you want to avoid over-complicating your overview. Which is why it is good to have support tabs ready to give you a clear picture at a moment's notice. It also helps with the d-scanner as we'll see below.

BOOKMARKS
Get in the habit of making Bookmarks (BMs) everywhere you go. You will never, ever regret it and they will save your life over and over again. I'm not kidding. I'm not joking.

I also organize my Bookmarks into folders. Not only does this make it easy to find them, manage them, and eventually delete them - but it also helps when you are in space and need them in a hurry. My folders are Tactical, Gate, INSTA, Safe, and a few others I'm not going to share with you. Tactical BMs are station insta docks, Jump Bridges, POSes, and positions off of enemy things. Gate BMs are pounces, warp-to spots, scan spots, etc. INSTA are insta undocks, and the only all CAPS folder for ease of finding it.

Organize, make, and use Bookmarks!

STANDINGS
You can set personal standings in Eve with any other player or player group, like corps and alliances. Then that entity will be color-coded forever!! While your own Corp/Alliance will also be setting standings for you, that is no reason why you can't do it yourself. Set up your own standards and stick to them. It is amazing what those little color bars can tell you about local when you glance at who is around.

In Stay Frosty we use orange to mark known Link alts and other persons of notorious bent, such as pilots that use ECM. We use red to draw attention to certain people, or groups that like to blob. And light blue to mark friendlies. We don't have any dark blue.

You can do that too!

SHIP BONUSES
Especially when you are starting out, always fit your ship to the bonuses it gets. You can see every ship bonus in the Show Info Window! Learn them, know them, use them! Later on when you get more experience you can start trying out different fits, but resist the urge to do so when you are young. Resist the urge! You need all the help you can get and counter-fitting is something to do when you have more skill points to compensate.

Plus it teaches you what those bonuses are so you can exploit the ones your enemy is bringing in his ship. See how that works?

D-SCAN
Take your D-Scanner home with you and sleep with it, put it under your pillow, and make sure to feed and care for it. That is how freakishly important it is! Know the d-scan, love the d-scan and use the d-scan at ALL times. Also, if you've set up your Overview the way I told you, you can use Active Overview Settings to only see what you want to see! See how that works? Think you are being probed? Tab the Drones overview and hit the D-Scan and ta-da you can see the probes in space now. Without all the other clutter.

Amazing things. Intelligence is so sexy.

Lowsec 1-1 Belt Mining

Lowsex belt mining can be an unconventional yet effective way to dive into PvP. Here’s how to set it up.

What You’ll Need

  1. A Suitable System
Look for a low-sec system connected directly to high-sec, preferably without gate camps.

  2. A "Harmless" Character
Use a few-months-old character with little to no PvP history. Avoid bragging about wins on zKill; instead, post only losses. You want to look like an easy target.

  3. A Tanky Ship That Can Surprise
Choose a ship capable of soaking damage and engaging targets. Avoid obvious bait choices like the Maller. Some personal favorites:

    • Smartbomb Typhoon: Great for catching groups and can use mining drones to sell the illusion.

    • Dual 1600mm Plated Thorax with autocannons, yes, you heard me.

    • Raven with Medium guns and Neuts: Effective for punishing frigs and cruisers of all sorts, who expect torps or cruise missiles.

  4. (Optional) A Recon Ship on Grid
A covert recon ship (e.g., Arazu) with a long tackle and covert cyno to summon Black Ops (BO) ships.

  5. (Optional) Black Ops and Titans for Escalation
If things heat up, call in the cavalry!

Your Objectives

Your targets will generally fall into two categories:

  1. PvP-Curious Players
These are capsuleers, often mission runners, who decide to “graduate” to PvP after months of high-sec carebear life. They fit their battleships and wander into low-sec, hunting in belts. NPC hunters and miners also fall into this category, though attacking them will lower your security status.

  2. Zerg Escalation Opportunities
This involves creating bait scenarios that escalate into counter-baits or even counter-counter-baits. Many of EVE Online’s largest battles, with thousands of pilots and billions in ISK losses, have started with something as simple as a Maller mining in a belt.

This strategy works solo, with multiboxing, or as a group. While friends increase your fun and success rate, even solo efforts can result in some of the most exciting PvP moments in the game.

1-1 Belt mining isn’t just about gathering ore—it’s about laying the groundwork for epic encounters. Try it out and see what chaos unfolds!

looking for content on demand 24-7? NPSI.rocks got you!

NPSI.ROCKS is a public calendar of public groups that offer PvP on demand.

Npsi.. not purple shoot it is teaming up with other likeminded capsuleers and going out together and shooting anyone that is not purple.. and is therefore a fair target!

This video goes on to explain a little bit more...

https://www.youtube.com/embed/d8H4he76Ozc?feature=oembed

Broadly speaking Npsi is the easiest way to get into public and group pvp without the barrier to entry of needing to be in the same corporation or alliance...

I live in FW space, so I am going to give a recap of the PvP we have here in the area.

Short description:

FW PvP is meant to be for solo and small gang pilots. Although multiboxing is a problem, it is still a great place to find fun fights. It is a lot about small ships and offers good encounters for Frigates and Destroyers. You should try to fit for range control with webs and scrams and focus on brawling tactics when entering factional warfare sites. PvP takes place in lowsec in deadspace pockets with acceleration gates. All targets land on the entry point so the "victim" has initial range control while the attacker has to adapt to the target's terms.

Long description:

Factional warfare offers great fun in different PvP activities, here I am going to focus on solo fights in small ships. Due to the FW mechanics, you are going to enter the sites from an acceleration gate and land on a beacon inside a deadspace pocket. since the beacon marks the obligatory entry point, the person inside the site has initial control over the fight. Kiters can position themselves far from the entry, while brawlers can sit close. There are many different fits and ships in FW space, but as a beginner you should choose a fit with good range control so high relative speed or web scram / dual web, maybe a dual web Kestrel. Good knowledge of the game mechanics and the ships boni and weaknesses will give you a great advantage, even with lower skillpoints. Frigate fights are very fast, so generally you do not need more than 2 minutes of cap-life, but when going up against larger targets, it can take a lot of time to get through their high ehp. Knowing how to use D-Scan both as a hunting and a defence tool is very important in FW. Most of the PvP takes place in the sites, so it is nice to be able to rapidly check which ships are in which sites. Loosing ships is, especially in the beginning, something that will happen frequently. It is a good idea to set up 5-10 ships in a station in the warzone and be able to get back into a new ship again right away. If you open up the FW map, you are going to see systems that have a stronger colour. These frontlines usually focus the action, so you are going to find more fights in these. As a neural in FW, you can shoot everyone, but if you join a militia, you will earn some LP by shooting people and make a bit of ISK that might pay for some of the ships you loose if you are.

The Trap

The Trap has many faces in PVP so has EVE:Online.

From all the Ships some are not like the others.
These Ships, my spacefriends, can cloak & warp.
Some of these can be configured to manipulate the bonus of the hull.
Making these ships to magic unicorns, for those who can bend their minds around.

If we can make wishes true, what do we want?

  • Cloaky & warp

  • Long Range

  • Alpha Damage

  • Instant

  • nearly Unscannable

We are talking about the Tengu.

Crisp breeze or mighty gale, no matter the form his lessons endure.
– Excerpt from Meditations on the Way: Book of the Cold Wind

In the cloaky railgun configuration the Tengu exceeds in a very unique way.
With a Range of 200km an alpha of 1000 every 3,5 Seconds and a simple rule.

Be aligned.

You simply stick 5x Sensor Booster and 2x Tracking Computers to your Midslots.

Just use following scripts:

  • 2x Targeting Range

  • 2x ECM Strength

  • 1x Sensor Strength

  • 2x Optimal Scripts

You will figure out the rest of the fitting yourself, if not this may the wrong ship for you.

Setup the Trap

You need a system with some traffic.
An anchorable bubble :)
Some Bomber as tackle, so they can't run away.
And then you make bookmarks 200 around the gate, if you not already have.

Once you are spotted, you are still hard to catch.
Your high ECM Strength with your low signature makes you still a hard nut to probe.
Not impossible but limites the attender xD

But you can simply reset and move on or take a break.
Remember you are cloaky.

Means you don't need a +200b Titan to move you around.
Just a 1,2B Battleship is enough.

Jeah, there is more. Covert Cyno are hard to see xD

You could also called it an alternative advanced variant of a bubble camp.
