The Federation Navy Comet

There is a glass walled conference room in CCP's offices that has a large image of the Fed Navy Comet and a few paragraphs from me about the ship on the glass. When CCP moved into their new offices they asked the community to submit their favorite ship and write about why it was so important to them.

I have over 1,500 kills in the Comet. I've been flying it a long time and it remains my go-to frigate choice because it is the perfect wide envelope choice and it's engagement profile remains the best in its class. Fitted with rails or blasters the Comet can consistently punch well above its weight class and, if flown by an experienced pilot, can bring down ships much larger than itself. When flying the Comet you confidence level is such that you can feel free to engage ships and situations that might normally give you pause.

This is why the Fed Navy Comet remains my favorite ship in Eve Online. A little known fact about the Comet - back in the days before ship skins CCP briefly introduced an entirely different version of the Comet - called the Police Pursuit Comet. This Comet was the same as the originally except for its Federal Navy Police skin. I have 50 kills in that version as well, which do not count towards the total of the regular Fed Navy Comet.

The Magus.

Because I love the steampunky look of it. The name is cool too. It can kite, it can brawl, it can boosh. But the best reason why it's my favorite ship is because it was the first ship I flew in the Alliance Tournament - and we won that match.

For me and our team, we all love the Amarr Assault Frigate, The Retribution. Death in space.

The Retribution, much like its name, is from the Amarr race, its sleek and deadly-looking design does nothing but give it credit for its performance. Its abilities cover a vast array of areas and activities of which it can be used to inflict massive damage and with the right implants, this ship can become even more deadly.

  1. We use this ship in most of our videos

  2. It excels in T1/2/3/4 Abyssal Space and a group of them can take down T5/6 as well.

  3. It can run ANY high sec anomalies

  4. It can run 1/2/3/4 of 10 DED Sites with ease

  5. Its PvP ability in a solo of "get in, get the kill, and run" is second to none

  6. It can run any level 1/2/3 Mission with ease.

Its selection of in-game ship skins can make it look incredible, such as the Youl Star in this picture provided, which highlights the looks of the ship.

The Apocalypse.

Nothing new here, I mentioned it before during the Amarr propaganda contest. The Apocalypse has that something that others don't have, be it the beaked shape, the long range lasers, the golden colors... In my brief career I flew different ships but the Apocalypse is still up there, and sadly for the way things went, I only flew it once.

I'm not really into stats and I have no clue on how good the Apoc is in the current state of the meta, for me it had always been the style/lore/faction more than anything.

Behind it it would come the Stratios which I flew for, hear hear, a pair of times, which felt... refined, sleek, clean, but I'm digressing.

Big surprise, but my favorite ship is the Stratios. It is a versatile ship that I use to make billions of ISK.

I have been flying (and losing) the Stratios for literal years and I have yet to grow bored of it

I love it too, sadly drones are too easy to scan with combat probes and NPCs love to eat them, so yuo need to yo-yo them all the time, reducing your effective DPS.

My Favorite Ship is the Astero.

The Style reminds me of Cowboy Bebob.

Also compared to the other exploration Frigates even without combat fit you kind of scary to engage. But remember in the end you are here for explo.

Your fitting options are wide and you can compare missing skills with mods. The Alternative is a more armor Tank version which gives you kind of a king tank under the frigates. Depending on your income you may want to start with a Heron or a Buzzard or any other racial explo frigate. Until then you know how it works and aren't so mad if you lose it with a  350 Mill zeugma fitted.

But if you love exploration, be alone in space cracking a can one after one. Here you have the Astero and now go play with it.

This is an absurdly tough question! the bounty should be at least 10! While I look at my hangar, here I found an interview where 10 devs share their favorite ships https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ogdc4HaWKzw

This will come as no great surprise for those that know me... it is the RAPTOR!

Individually the Raptor itself is an OK ship.

When run as a fleet, it is amazeballs! An interceptor fleet, properly configured, has the ability to kill hostile fleets in the blink of an eye.

With its additional utility mid slot, decent damage application, and the ability to heat its MWD to nearly 7km/s, the Raptor is the go to inty for the FUN inc signature doctrine ShrinkWrapped.

The ShrinkWrapped doctrine regularly destroys ships far exceeding their size - and has even destroyed as much as 30BN isk in one single roam.

Currently we have run 266 roams using this doctrine alone and destroyed more than 1.7TN isk. That is nearly 7BN isk PER ROAM.

Here are our fits:

Aside the above attributes... it is the fact that they are so fun to fly that really makes this my go to FUN ship!

When in doubt - undock Loki!

After much deliberation, my final verdict is LOKI. Why? Upon careful analysis, I recall having the most fun aboard that ship.

In my eyes, the fun stems from the versatility of this ship. Here's what you can do:

  1. Safe PvE is quite feasible: Events, Level 3 agents for standing boosts, Level 4 agents for various reasons, COSMOS agents, and all four EPIC Arcs.

  2. Riskier PvE includes: DED complexes in hostile zones, exploration, and wormholes (WHs). You can also make it nearly unprobable, cloakable, and nullified.

  3. Diverse PvP options: solo hunter, BO Ganker, small fleet, large fleet, tackle, logistics, artillery blapper, or just serving as DPS.

The best part is its flexibility as a T3 - you can switch between roles and playstyles on the fly with the aid of a mobile depot, even during combat! I appreciate the speed, the choice of two capless weapon systems, the tanking options, and of course - the rustic look.

Remember that huge tree-map of activities in EVE? If someone asks me which ship can do most of those things, Loki tops the list. This defines 'best' for me, making Loki my favorite ship.

One of my favorite ships undoubtedly is the Vexor Navy Issue. I don't usually play PvP, but with this ship, I feel extremely comfortable. It has good damage, formidable resistance, capable of even fighting in numerical inferiority situations. I'll share the fit I usually use: the blasters deal excellent damage at close range while the drones apply even more pressure as you neutralize your enemy's capacitor. Additionally, it features dual armor repairers, providing enough resistance to withstand 2 vs. 1 combat situations.

I'm sharing a short video of my adventures with this beautiful ship. I know I don't have many skills, but I have a great time going out looking for trouble.

When I was a new player, the Triglavian Invasion was just beginning. I was in a mining corp at the time so we made a habit of clearing then mining the Emerging Conduits. My corp CEO at the time undocked the biggest, meanest ship I had seen in the game up to that point: A Passive Tanked Rattlesnake. At that time, the largest ship I could field was a rather poorly fit (and unrigged) Vexor, so I was definitely awed. Fast forward about 8 months and I was finally able to build, fit, and undock in my very own Rattlesnake. As an alpha clone, this ship has been the flagship of my fleet for the past 4 years or so now and will likely retain this distinction for many more years to come.
