My partner and I are considering watching Shōgun after we finish The Bear.
I've honestly not heard much about it but what I have heard sounds amazing and brutal!
Has anyone watched it yet and, if so, does it live up to the hype? No spoilers please!

Shogun is excellent. It is one of the very best and executes at a level rarely seen, honoring the source material while also, as if by magic, presenting its world from a seemingly new and unique perspective. The sheer attention to detail and cultural dynamics, brought to life by an amazing and incredible cast, bring the world to life in ways we rarely get to experience in dramas like this on television. And while it is not always perfection, it is constantly working to achieve it, with an unexpected sense of humor, character, and panache.
I could say more, but it is best experienced for yourself. Great show. And the behind-the-scenes history and making of is just as epic. If you are into that sort of thing.

By 1980 six million copies of Shōgun were sold worldwide and has been adapted into two series (in 1980 and 2024), a stage production (Shōgun: The Musical), a board game and three video games.
