This is a great question and could make an interesting poll as the platform continues to get busier.

The original premise of the platform was to steer away from the 'popularity contest' of following people in the way that most social media platforms offer, instead focusing on following communities (and in the future, offering more granularity/control of your feeds via following topics/tags etc).

But I can see how opting in to follow (or hide) individuals would be helpful functionality and perhaps an inevitability over time. Perhaps though we shouldn't show follower counts, so the focus is still on great content & contributions to communities, rather than attempting to build up your personal number. What does everybody think?

Oh yeah definitely don’t alter the way the site works like boosting up higher “follow” counts or ONLY showing followed users. I just mean something like “oh, that guy I watch made an article” if they haven’t been on for a few days/it’s been a super busy day kind of thing.

I kind of like how people can't click my profile and easily see my entire post history like you can most places. Wouldn't be keen on people following my every move on here either (cyber stalking comes to mind). Can see why it would be useful for others though so If it did exist then I'd like an option to turn it off so people can't.

On a similar note, I know we have the option to bookmark/save a post but I would like the ability to follow a post/bounty and get notifications every time there is a new post on it.

Yeah like “hide public history” and “disable follow” are totally fair.

Keep in mind I’m looking at this from the lens of not having any other social media so I’m like, one stop shop! Lol
