I'm sorry but you can tap amazing gfx onto GTA all you like but NOTHING beats the original or GTA London IMO - They were the best for me, I could spend hours playing those, absolutely loved them.

absolutely! They are so good! Kind of surprised we haven’t had a modern remake of them with some polished up graphics and frame rates etc! Would be a blast!

I thought an graphic'd up Grand Theft Auto London was called The Getaway

GTA London had an awesome soundtrack!

In fact I think that's how I found out about it...one of the game shops (Electronics Boutique?) was giving away free CDs with the soundtrack and a demo.

Yeh I had the original and didn't know about GTA London, so, my friend brought it over and said try this, I was like OMg this is so cool lol

Grand Theft Auto IV. I was too young+ did not have a PS2/ Xbox to really play through III, Vice City or San Andreas in any meaningful way. But IV was the real one for me. The story had really strong themes, the satire on the 00's hipster and blogging culture was amazing, and remember when Rockstar made single player DLC with Lost and Damned + Ballad of Gay Tony. Each DLC took you through vastly different subcultures that were present in Liberty City and I loved the way it inter-wove through the IV's campaign as well.

Lastly - love it or hate it, were the car physics. I personally loved it, getting the sweet handbrake turn in a drift around the corner was my favourite meta-game.

I just got this recently to play on Xbox via backwards compatibility as it looks fab!! I’ll need to check out the dlc too!

i still have my original pc disc for GTA 1, such classic! And was so much fun and so different from anything else back then!

Vice City. Hearing a protagonist with my nickname (Tommy) was mind-blowing. (And yes, me playing it consisted in just roaming around with the cheat codes due to me being a kid. Never played it properly)

Tommy was badass! Although a little dumb - why on a rampage would you scream "Tommy Vercetti, remember the name!"

Favourite today is gta5 single player. Looking at them how much I enjoyed them at the time rather than how they compare today, then gta 3 as it was so revolutionary moving to 3d.

awww yea it was wild, I Remember getting it on pc and struggling to believe they had managed to pull such a game off!

I always loved GTA from the first game but none hit me as hard as San Andreas. The moment where you get betrayed and lose all of your stuff just felt so unexpected, and the narrative in general felt so much deeper and more ambitious than the 3 or Vice City. I also absolutely loved the countryside, and was so disappointed that they didn't include it in GTA 4. San Andreas also felt so massive, and even though 5 is bigger, it doesn't feel that way in my opinion

I’ve yet to really play San Andreas!! I have the remastered collection so when I finish vice city I will get on that next

It's so good, it's also single-handedly responsible for getting me into hip hop

if I count by hours played it would be GTA Online I’ve clocked about 3,700+ hours on steam. But GTA 3 will have a special place in my heart. Back in the day, I memorized the map and didn’t even have to look at it.
