Now that Just About Music (aka, JAMS) has had a couple of weeks to bed in, we're running the first of many bounties to establish the best artists, videos, albums, and more in the wide world of music. Based on the response to our poll and the discussions so far, it looks like we've got a lot of rock fans here, so that's where we'll start (but rest assured, this is a Space for all genres of music, and we'll explore them all in due course!)
So. The big question. What are the best rock, metal, indie, or alternative artists... ever? Solo acts and bands from early rock 'n' roll up to the present day are all welcome. Name one or several of your favourites but be sure to make the case for each that you name. Listing bands isn't helpful to other members if they've never heard of them before, so tell us what makes them special! Or better yet, show us, with a link to their best work (be sure to link the official version).
