I love a good cover! Sometimes I've found that I enjoy a cover more than the original - sometimes my takes have caused a lil controversy whoopsie!
Here are some of my takes
The man who sold the world - originally by David Bowie, but I prefer Nirvana's cover of it. I think the grunge sound more effectively conveys the mood of this song :)
Across the universe - originally by the Beatles, but I prefer Fiona Apple's cover. Her voice brings more meaning to this song and I love her composition!
Wild Horse - originally by the rolling stones, but the Sundays cover of this song is so magical and ethereal that I prefer it massively. I love the instrumental the band adds towards the end of the song... turns it into a proper love song I would say
Will you still love me tomorrow - originally by The Shirelles, but Amy Winehouse's cover of the song on her album hidden treasures is my favourite version of the song. Winehouse's voice is just so amazing that anything she sings is the most beautiful thing you'll ever here.
Obviously there is still a lot of merit in my mind for the originals of these songs. Without them these covers probably wouldn't exist!
What are your guys' favourite covers? Do you have any maybe controversial takes on certain covers being more enjoyable than the original?
