Nightingale Patch 0.2 First Impressions: The Good, The Bad, and The Weird
Today marked the release of a significant new patch in Nightingale, bringing substantial changes across all game aspects. I've just begun to scratch the surface of these updates and there's a wealth of new features to explore and re-invent. It seems the update has also drawn many players; I've never seen so many realmwalkers in The Watch simultaneously.
Here are my findings so far
Crafting System Enhancements: The new "crafting from a box" feature is definitely a plus- now I can easily access any ore or lumber in my possession at a glance. The only downside is the overwhelming list; I have over 30 different ingots cluttering up my space. Previously, I could store the ones I didn't use, but now they'll just crowd my list. To manage this, I plan to experiment with the storage system in another realm. However, you still need to physically carry materials for building construction.
Storage Changes: It seems my ultimate 200-slot storage combo is no longer necessary, as the stack limit has increased to 9999 items, up from 100. Meaning you can fit everything in a single 55-slot chest. It's defiantly a good change, but i feel sad for wasting time for invention which is now useless.
Companion Management System: We now have comprehensive tools to tweak AI behavior, which means no more accidentally using gilded lumber for a fireplace. Unfortunately, we're still missing a 'call-in-range' function, but it's something I can live without.
Crafting Stats Changes: The update has reinstated the stacking ability for complex materials and allowed for more stat combinations. I've managed to stack some crazy stats; check out the difference in crit and magic attack on my knife—the one on the left was crafted pre-patch, and the one on the right was crafted today, showing an 5000% improvement on that item alone! It's thrilling for now, though I suspect they might nerf this soon.
Spell Changes: The changes here are vast; they've removed the cap and, as mentioned earlier, the adjustments are significant. My old lantern now provides a 3500 magic attack, paired with a x260 crit bonus and other enhancements, yielding 3.2 million crit ticks - quite an improvement from the old 6.5k. I haven't even optimized my armor set yet, which could potentially double those figures. However, I anticipate a balance hotfix here too.
Realm Height Cap Adjustment: They've altered the realm height cap (again!), and it's now back to around 55 floors above sea level. Unfortunately, my sky town is now trapped above this new invisible ceiling. The good news is I can still teleport there and now it seems continue building upwards indefinitely. The bad news is my massive building project for the bounty challenge is now unreachable; I had decided to build it on the ground, but since I'm trapped in the sky, I can't get past the invisible ceiling. I'm hoping for a fix soon; otherwise, I'll need to farm over 7000+ rocks again.
I hate invisible walls!
Despite the challenges, I'm still very excited about this patch. It has brought many new discoveries and reinvigorated my desire to experiment within the game.
So, how have you all found the changes so far? Any new discoveries or clever tricks you’ve figured out with the new update? Share your experiences and tips - I’m eager to hear what other realmwalkers are thinking and experimenting with!
I have so many things on my hands at the moment and feel like I'm way behind in everything 😭 looking forward to get back to Nightingale when I can, some of these seem to be very good QoL updates.
That's true and definitely one of the reasons why I put it on the side for a bit now, catch up on other things which are more time-limited and then get back to it when I can enjoy it. Just sad when I see some bounties and I can't contribute to them because I'm not far enough into the game yet.
There's so much content I want to do, so many games but so little time, would love to be a full-time creator right now and have the time for all of them. But I'm not so have to set a priority list and just progress slowly in some of the games I started to play.
Great summary, thanks man! These kind of posts are helping me to stay up to date and excited about the game while I can't set aside the time to play it, please keep them coming!
Thanks
Yesterday i'v updated armors too, the stats are insane, nerf will come any moment, sadly. finding exploits and being OP - my main driver for exploration and discovery
