The existence of two types of structure formation seems very interesting to me and allows for an infinite number of options, which is usually a limiting factor in games of this kind. I wasn't that excited, but I found everything I read interesting
it's quite finite, trust me =) And Nightingale have a very strict construction rules, which limits you to 2 meter 'box' designs. It's aint bad, but took a lot of time to learn how to work with these limitations (snapping, and block count).
He was talking about a structures and decorations, most games have both and follows pretty same logic (you do not want a chair to snap to the wall or roof, right?)
My main concern relates to their architectural decisions regarding how and where they store data. In earlier interviews, they mentioned a strong focus on co-op mode, which I believe may have led to challenges with things like offline mode and realm loading times.
During my visit to Devcom, I had the opportunity to chat with engineers and experts in a small roundtable at the Sunset Lounge. We explored different solutions, such as hybrid local storage, server data handling, and cloud and platform API utilisation. While Nightingale was occasionally brought up as an example of some challenges, it also provided valuable insights into what can be improved, offering learning opportunities for future projects.
it's still Early Access and not even 1.0v, so lets hope they going to sort these things before the release.
