Introduce yourself to Just About Sport!

Welcome, sports fans, to Just About Sport!

This is the Space to discuss and enthuse about sports of all kinds, whether team-based, paired, or solo; played in a pub, pitch, or mountain; competitive or cooperative... frankly, humanity has devised an amazing variety of organised physical games, so if in doubt, post it anyway!

We’re only a small community at the moment, so let’s get to know each other better. This thread is for everyone to say a quick hello and introduce themselves. You could talk about the sports you play yourself or the ones you like to follow as a fan, what sport means to you or your local club means to your community, or just a little about yourself and how you came across Just About.

My name’s Rich and I’m the Community Content Lead here at Just About. It’s my job to figure out what you folks want to see on your communities and then deliver it through our bounties, discussions, and curated content, so up front: if you have any questions or suggestions about the content here, just tag me Rich, or our Community Manager Boomer for moderation issues.

I’ve had two big sports in my life: skiing and rugby. I played the latter all through school and university, and for a couple of years at a local club until I lost a piece of my shin when a scrum collapsed on it. I considered that a fair moment to quit and now follow international rugby, approaching every test series with hope and trepidation for England. I still ski, and it’s the main sport in which I would confidently declare an aptitude, having completed the first of a two-part instructor’s qualification.

Elsewhere, I got into the gym big time at university and am still a pretty regular attendee. I also played Judo throughout my teens (and am seriously tempted to go back to it now), and can stand up on a surfboard. I enjoy sports of all kinds at least a little bit, though, and am looking forward to taking whatever lead you’d all like to give us as we work together to make this your ideal Space to enthuse about sport! Fear not; anything I can’t figure out, I’ll ask Joel.
