Guess I got to do the first match of Poland against the Dutch, which to everyone surprise was a lot closer than expected. Even after the last prep match turned the Polish camp into a triage centre, with Lewy not even being able to participate in the match against the Netherlands, it was still somewhat close and more than winnable for the Polish.

After the first solid quarter was dominated by the Dutch team, the Poles still had some portions of the game where they were dominant, and had quite a few opportunities where the ball really should've gone it. Whilst being simply a lot more skilled in terms of teamplay and moving the ball, something about the Polish strategies still meant we got near the goal quite a few times. That seemed to have mainly come down to the individual errors of the defence and the Polish attack being able to locate and just barely squeeze through those gaps, rather than our team being objectively more skillful than anything. Given how horrible the group is for us, this and Austria are really are only chances of really getting out of it. At least Lewandowski should be back for that match, however this first one also proven the team is capable even without him, with someone like Buksa leading the attack instead. Hopefully that is something that Probierz will take some hints from, especially given how this is most likely the captain's final major tournament in the national team.

My report has to showcase englands efforts yesterday.

England vs. Denmark 1-1

England and Denmark played out a 1-1 draw at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt on June 20, 2024. The match did have a strong start from England but ultimately ended in a draw!

First Half:

18th Minute:

Harry Kane opened the scoring for England with a clinical finish inside the box, with on a cross from Kyle Walker assisting . It was such a great start for England but it didn’t last long.

35th Minute:

We sat Denmark equalise from Morten Hjulman which levelled the score before halftime.

Second Half:

The second half saw both teams pushing for a winner, but neither side could break the deadlock. England had several promising attacks

Bukayo Saka frequently in excellent positions. However, Saka often found himself isolated, lacking the support needed to convert these opportunities into goals.

Harry Kane’s performance, despite his goal, was underwhelming overall. He struggled to maintain influence in the attacking third, it was really frustrating to see

Declan Rice equally I don’t think played as strong as we would’ve hoped for it’s a shame, would’ve liked to have seen 1 more goal from England to set the board up nicely

Overall, it wasn’t the best game of football I had seen, but there were some great takeaways. For instance Saka’s positioning and efforts, so so strong from such a young guy, the team need to start working on how they can be there for support

England Vs Slovakia - 2-1

To say that England's performance in this match was dismal is putting it lightly, the defence was shockingly weak, and Slovakia was aggressive from the outset, forcing England onto the backfoot almost immediately and the sheer amount of narrow and lucky escapes England had, which could have lead to a shocking defeat at the hands of Slovakia.

In the 25th Minute, England fans' fears were realised when Ivan Schranz took the lead with a complete and direct counter-attack which left England players scratching their heads about how he managed it.

The goals scored by both Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane were sheer dumb luck, they were not skill and it is beginning to show as stated on many TV outlets that our current team may simply be not up to the par needed anymore for international football. One commenter even went as far as to say that if they spent less time spending money and more time training, then things would have gone better.

England's next match is against Switzerland and seeing their performance so far, I am not confident, with our current performance levels, we will even have a chance, their attack strategy is on par and England will have to step up their game if we even have a snowball's chance in hell of winning that match!

Switzerland VS Italy

This was the first round of 16 game and the match started with Switzerland dominating the game Italy were far from the team that won the previous tournament, 26 minutes in and Switzerland had a really good chance to go ahead by Breel Embolo but his shot was easily saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma, as the first half continues Switzerland continue to dominate and Italy continue to struggle their defence playing poorly, Switzerland hard work finally paid off at 37 minutes when Switzerland's great start is finally rewarded as Ruben Vargas finds Remo Freuler and then Freuler put it into the back of the net. The first half concludes with Switzerland with a much deserved 1-0 lead.

The second half kicks off with Italy knowing they have a lot of work to do unfortunately a mistake leaves Italy in more trouble when Switzerland's Ruben Vargas scores a superb goal to put Switzerland 2-0 up and leaving Italy with a mountain to climb, the second half continues with Italy showing no real threat their first shot on target eventually coming in the 73rd minute Italy also managed to hit the woodwork but they never seemed like a real threat to Switzerland who dominated for the majority of the match, the game ended with Switzerland winning 2-0 knocking out the Italian holders and now Switzerland will go on to play England in their next match.
