very interesting, thanks for sharing as i love to always try and educate myself a bit more with regards to such topics. As a noob here is this similar to a tor / onion browser type setupd but for a VPN? Thanks

Not quite, in TOR you do not have control over the exit node, here you can pick exit-country for all or any network devices. It's like an extra layer of the internet over the regular internet.

you can direct each device via different tunnel

or you can direct certain traffic via app management. For instance, any of my connected devices, be it a TV / Phone / Laptop netflix services will always go via the Indian node.

wow thats very cool, I am fascinated by this, some questions if you dont mind to help me understand better!

does it have much impact in network speeds?

So do you get access to all this by just buying that device in a one off purchase which you showed in the review?

Is that the main big benefit vs traditional VPN is the avoidance of monthly payment?

and if there is no monthly payment what is paying for this infrastructure or is it like other users machines are the nodes you use?

Hopefully my questions make sense lol

  1. It might have a negative effect on speeds. Remember, you are essentially using someone else's connection to access the internet. So, if that person is on 4G, you will get the same 4G max speed, not your 2.5Gbit optical speed.

The good news is you can drop nodes you don't like and get new ones. Another benefit is 'smart' tunneling, which allows you to tailor which crucial apps or devices will use the tunnels. Meanwhile, you can continue to download heavy stuff like games and torrents directly by utilizing your ISP.

I've noticed maybe a 5 to 20% increase in ping when testing competitive game servers with the Game Server Ping Test - ping checker

  1. Yes, it’s a one-time purchase of the device with no subscriptions or anything. There’s also a crypto mining and staking functionality, but you can completely ignore it as it won’t interfere with the service.

  2. There are many benefits, one of which is the price. But the main one, in my opinion, is real tunneling—you are entering the internet from someone's real public IP. Big services like Booking and Xbox can identify most popular VPN services, but this setup avoids that issue. Another major feature is the ability to protect and redirect any home network device, whether it’s a fridge or a gaming console. You can tailor tunnels for each device as you like. You can't install NordVPN client on your Wi-Fi cam or smartwatch.

  3. The device itself is a node, so you and over 160,000 other people are paying for the electricity. But it's just 10W, meaning 7.2 kWh per month. I don't know your electricity prices, but for me, it's about 80 cents per month.

For home/static usage, I recommend getting the Mini with an antenna, as it supports speeds up to 1 Gbit. That's what i'm using at home, the AIR is designed for travels.

Awesome review! So this is how you trick Twitch subs with the pricing you mentioned earlier?
