I am hyped by this… streaming and an all digital world where we own nothing sucks… my next purchase is a CD player for the house 👌👍 💿

I got a CD player recently and I've gone back to thinking it's the best and most convenient format. Yes it's nice to have access to so much music via streaming, but being able to physically see you collection, and put it into something that you don't need to connect to anything, it just feels better. As for video streaming, the selection us spread across so many services and is still very incomplete that I don't think streaming has ever been able to truly replace DVD/bluray. Not to mention how bad streaming looks sometimes
Spot on my friend, We watched the new avatar on Blu Ray at the weekend, looks stunning and far sharper than some streaming services, plus uses the whole screen which was nice instead of ltterbox galore! And yeah i love owning my own collection of stuff i like, especially lately we have had a few internet drop outs and when its down your stuffed, so its been great to have blu ray and phyisical videogames to enjoy during these times! Like I say CD player will be next for me too! Especially as I still have a ton of my old CD's which I cant wait to revisit!
also i think this points to a bigger need for people to 'own' things if that makes sense? it's scary to think that a company could technically decide when you can't access to something anymore.. but with a cd or dvd u still have a physical copy of it.

Like say you buy a dvd then after a few years the film studio shows up at your door and says "sorry you cant have that anymore, but we will be keeping the money you paid for it! Thanks!"
Plus maybe its just me but i love looking at the physical boxes and the art work on my favorite games and stuff, browsing tehm in a store, i hate the idea of a future where everything is jsut digital and this is lost... imagine even kids for Christmas or whatever, for me the buzz of getting a new game or console was unmatched, if they disappear kids will probably be getting a "game pass" voucher in an card, that sucks! lol
Agree, I used to have Netfilix but stopped paying for it when they removed a lot of the things I liked or cancelled shows due to not enough people watching them. If I have a DVD I can watch it any time.
I still try and do most of my creative writing by hand (it 'flows' easier that way and I like the idea of having physical copies of stuff)
My friend also has recently brought her record player to our house share - so i am definitely going to be getting more vinyls second-hand and stuff cos i like the idea of that :) good way to listen to more albums since spotify has kinda led to people not doing that anymore - just songs by themselves
definitely, plus the album art on so many vinyls is incredible! I have a ton in my loft but I need to set up some decks again sometime to play some of them! It's nice not having an algorithm deciding everything for us for a while!
Not going to lie but I kinda like the streaming and digital lifestyle.
I grew up with my family being hoarders. A once 5 bedroom home became a place where we had 2-3 storage rooms of past hobbies, VHS's, and obsolete technology. It made me sick trying to clean out one of those rooms for a birth certificate and suffering allergy attacks due to the amount of dust and cobwebs that accumulated in every corner.
Having a harddrive full of pirated box sets during university and now being able to sit down to watch a pre-saved series on a streaming service is what I want to do now that I'm settled. Having physical copies slowly degrade and popping them in to find that I cannot watch it would be a far greater loss for me than if a series just went from a streaming service.
I do admit physical copies have the charms of behind the scenes, fun menus, and loads of other extras but they sadly have gone from Blu-Rays for some reason and Disney+ have those features for after the film so I'm not missing too much
