Todd Howard said before launch that there were "over 1,000" planets in the game, all fully explorable. IGN has an interview with a player who's actually gone and surveyed them all, and discovered that the real number is closer to 2,000. More than just a headline, it's interesting to hear what 'DoomZero' thinks of planet variety, and what Todd's statement actually means for playable content.

Love it. Starfield is also on my long list of must play games and probably this is the exact thing I would be doing :D In Star Trek Online one of my favourite things to do was to go to the edge of the map where we had the exploration area and the game would randomly throw a planet at you and you could either fight, trade with locals or just explore and uninhabited planet.
