Come Fly with Me, Fallout New Vegas.

The Fallout Series, in general, has great side quests, but Come Fly With Me is one of my favourites for the way it takes something that seemed known (Ghouls) and added twists (A human who thought they were a ghoul? A Ghoul that wants to fly to the stars and escape?) and encourages exploration of a location that may not have otherwise happened.

Love it.

Edit to add:

I didn't want to expand originally to prevent spoilers, but for me, the first time I found this quest had aligned with Novac and Boone, one of my favorite Fallout New Vegas companions (and even Fallout companions of all time, really). I had just gotten the charisma high enough to get his quest and learn, but I didn't know where to start looking, and at the time, I didn't know that side quest could be done entirely in Novac, so I had inadvertently hiked all the way to the plant, and discovered the ghouls by happy accident. When I go back to replay Fallout new Vegas, it's one of the side quests I seek out if only to get to talk to Jason and Chris again, and explore the options of the Questline. I always help the ghouls to fly though.

10000000% agree - Come Fly With Me is phenomenal, I was holding out hope there'd be a reference to those ghouls somewhere in Starfield, but if there is, I don't think anyone has found it yet!

Just a heads up, for this to be eligible for the bounty reward, we're looking for a minimum of 200 words - are you able to expand a little on why Come Fly With Me is your fave from FNV? Feel free to edit your submission with additional thoughts any time before the deadline closes at the end of the week!

It HAS to be The Great Hunt in Fallout 4, for me. The game has so many great quests but this one really stood out to me and even to this day, my community and I still talk about it a lot. The first time I did this quest in Far Harbour, I had no idea what to expect about a monster with piercing red eyes that has sunk a plethora of ships in the fog-ridden area of post-apocalyptic Maine. The variety of monsters that Far Harbour had added already including Fog Crawlers, Gulpers, Anglers and Hermit Crabs I didn't know what else could possibly be lurking in the fog! The creature is a legend in the area, made out to be something menacing and horrific, so I wanted to be prepared. As we set sail to go and take down the beast, we were met with a much... smaller scale creature, that was far too adorable to neutralise. I always feel a little bit guilty when I have to do it. It's an optional quest and you don't HAVE to do it but it's for my preferred ending to the DLC so, sadly, this little critter has to be dealt with. I always wish there was an option to tame it and keep it as a pet elsewhere, there's just something cute about it... and the quest overall has such a different feel to it compared to a lot of other quests where you actually have to fight a big, menacing creature. It was a fun change of pace.

I loved Fallout 4, but never got around to playing Far Harbor. I've heard lots of great things though, and this cements the fact I should really play it soon. I'm also an absolute wuss though, and it looks far creepier than anything else in the main game, ha.

Just a heads up, to be eligible for the bounty reward, we're requiring that submissions be at least 200 words long for this bounty. If you're able to jump back in and add a few more thoughts, that will make you eligible - you're only around 50 words shy, give or take!

So many good games and so many memorable quests, but I’ll pick a fairly recent one which would be my answer to those people who would say “Don’t cry it’s just a game”.

More than Words in Final Fantasy XVI

I’ll try to talk about it without too many spoilers, but this is a side quest from the very end of the game, so if you haven’t gotten this far yet and would like to experience it yourself, I suggest not to read my post.

This was your friendly spoiler warning 😊

In the quest Clive will follow his loyal companion Torgal, as the fine hound seems to be upset and keeps looking out at the horizon from the hideaway. Torgal takes him back to Rosaria to Clive's childhood hideaway where they have spent a lot of time together, away from Rosalith Castle. And what Clive finds at that hideaway will tell him more than words could tell how much Torgal missed him during those long years spent apart.

Even if you are not the side quest person and just want to carry on with the main story, there are a few side quests in FFXVI which add so much context to the connection between characters, and especially towards the end of the game some of them hit really hard. And in a game like FFXVI where the antagonist’s every move is towards separating the hero from his loved ones, these connections and friendships are so important. Without the support he gets from his friends through the game, Clive would have not had the strength to complete his task.

Triple Triad Mini Game from Final Fantasy VIII

I'm not sure if this is a quest per se, but I became absolutely addicted to the Triple Triad mini game in Final Fantasy VIII. Many NPCs in the game would challenge you to a match where the winner could pick a card from the other players deck.

The fun starts when you start building your card collection as some monsters would drop their 'card' when defeated. Each card would have numbers indicating their power on each side of the card. Playing the game you'd place a card on the 3x3 grid. If you placed it adjacent to another card that had weaker power on the sides that touched it'd become your colour.

You and the NPC would take turns to play cards and try to get most of the cards to be your colour to win.

I remember that I read guides to figure out the best strategies to beat certain NPCs and where to find the rarest and most powerful of cards.

There was a time where I lost a challenge to an NPC and lost my most rare card. I was heartbroken and stayed away from the game for a few days, but I came back to it determined to rebuild the power of my deck and destroy that NPC.

I wish more games had this sort of mini game built in. It was the most memorable part of the game for me.

This is pretty cool! Sounds like a Gwent (Witcher III) predecessor to me

I think this is where Witcher got the idea for Gwent, I love both card mini games, they are pretty cool. And Triple Triad makes a come-back in FFXIV as well, constantly getting more cards so you can play different decks or collect all the rare cards with characters from other FF games as well.

Death Stranding, Episode 4: Unger

Anybody that has played Death Stranding would ultimately agree that the most memorable experience ever, was being transported back to WW2 in a nightmare to the hellscape of USA, reimagined in the worst way possible to be as haunting and 'nightmarish' as possible, and to top it all off, finding the most memorable character, (In my opinion) Cliff Unger

The episode is just phenomenalIt just delves deeper into the game's mysterious and complex narrative, creating another jigsaw piece that adds onto the already enormous puzzle of the nature of Death Stranding

And Cliff Unger is just absolutely badass in this episode... no other character comes close to just how cool he plays his part. And then you have to fight him? Goddamn it's spectacular

Which is the reason why this is my favourite quest ever. Full stop.
