They can take many forms, from the standard in typical RPGs that fill your quest log to bursting; to notable missions in games that progress linearly from one to the next, like most shooters; to those that never appear as objectives but simply as linked events, as in most Soulslikes. But however you know them, you know when a special quest has made an impact on you.
