Although I haven't played Mario Wonder, I'm not really a fan of how the game looks. Every single time I see gameplay videos, I just end up wanting to play Super Mario World again.
Even though we have a lot of Doom clones (ie boomer shooters) on the market, we don't really have a lot of Mario clones. And no, Sonic was never good. Ever.
I still need to buy / play Celeste...
I have thought about learning Game Maker, but considering how long it takes to make a game, I'm not really inclined to spend that amount of time in making a platformer. I'd rather make a vertical shoot-em-up like Radiant Silvergun.
But again, it's about trying to motivate oneself in spending 2-3 years on learning game development, and making a semi-decent game.
