I must admit, I struggled to find the essence of 'Halo' in the new television series. It felt more like watching a group of enthusiastic Halo cosplayers having a blast in their backyard.
In regards to the second question: This is NOT the way. (c)
I thoroughly enjoyed it! There are inconsistencies with the games and I don't buy their reasoning about why he removes his helmet so much, but it has enough of the DNA to scratch the itch.
They've been talking about adapting halo for the TV / movie screen for such a long time, so I don't think whatever they came up with would match the hype.
My hope is they convert enough non-Halo fans with the show to justify a big budget movie, and that can be where they go all out.
