Big up Civilization VI! Honestly, if this is a game you never thought you'd like, I recommend trying it for a fiver. I did the exact same thing when Civ V plummeted in price, and I've never looked back. I'd also be game to game with people and teach them the ropes. Be warned that sessions can be long, but there are settings that speed things up so they're less Monopoly-level infuriating.
Midnight Suns is also good if you like Marvel.
