As the CEO and co-founder of Neon Doctrine, an indie publisher that was founded in 2014 and which operates from its offices in Taiwan, Iain Garner is acutely aware of the lack of representation and visibility which creators from lesser known regions enjoy on the world stage. As part of this, his goal is to help promote the culture and talent from those regions, and to also help those creators in realising their dreams.
I spoke to Iain Garner about the difficulties that he’s had in releasing games from those creators, how he’s been able to maintain healthy relationships with his co-founders since Neon Doctrine was founded 10 years ago, and how the industry has changed during this time. I was also able to get his opinion on how Steam makes it “possible for games and gamers in different regions to thrive“. All this and so much more in what is surely an enlightening conversation… Enjoy!
