I had an excellent experience with FF XV and I believed that was the experience of the franchise, until I realized that that game is hated by most fans, I've completed XVI but I don't think it's for me. Reading what you've said and watching the videos, I think I'll give it a go haha

FFXV is quite divisive due to it's history and way it was originally released i.e. part of the story you needed to watch a movie, DLC that really helped flesh out the story, and the lack of polish it had i.e. linear corridors, flashy combat but the input was holding attack.

The Royal Edition thankfully fixes some of these issues (at least the DLC side).

I played Royal and that's exactly what impressed me, I loved the game, I even platinumed it on the PlayStation. I went into XVI with the wrong expectations and ended up getting bored

I get it why people dislike some things about XV, but I think the hate it gets is undeserved, and it's actually a very good first FF game to play, as it really helps you get the hang of the combat in the starting open world before things get serious. I wish they didn't cancel the Lunafreya DLC, that would have added so much to the story as well.

XVI is definitely not for everyone, what I love about it the most is the summons and all abilities being tied to them. I loved experimenting with the combos. If we put aside the nostalgia I have for VII, then XVI is my favourite single player FF game.

FF7 Remake and Rebirth are a true masterpiece. The graphics are amazing, Rebirth really outdid Remake with the combat system and the open world is huge. Tons of minigames if that's something you enjoy. I think if you liked XV you'll love Remake and Rebirth too.

I agree with everything you said about the XV.

As for XVI, the dialogues in general seem to me to be dragging, repetitive and even unnecessary, but I understand that perhaps it's because the game is Japanese and comes from another culture. The combat stands out, allowing for a multitude of options

Japanese storytelling definitely has its own ways and might not be for everyone's liking. I watched so much anime that it's kind of natural to me by now so I wouldn't be able to tell if it has significant Japanese characteristics.

What is interesting though that the game's primary language is English. So the characters' lipsync motion capture has been done to match the English audio and then they translated it to Japanese. Wondering if that had any impact on the narrative itself?

I'm waiting until the whole remake is out before I play it.

I love what they did with all the characters especially the little friendship moments between Tifa and Aerith are soo cute

It is a good idea to wait and experience the full game! I was too impatient for that 😂 Ilove the friendship building moments, it's a nice contrast to all the Tifa or Aerith fights in the fandom.
