It’s a league of legends rip off, that was only released to Asian countries at the start. 🙄

The only thing I know about Marvel Rivals is that they put the Fantastic 4 back on the map. Well Sue Storm at least.. somehow the invisible woman has become the most visible thing on my timeline

The game still hasn’t been released in Canada? Definitely would like to try it…

Gave it a go for a few hours over the weekend. I quite like it to the point that I bought the battle pass and I am looking forward to playing it again.

It’s a bit overwhelming with how many characters you can choose from but I just started with some of the 1/5 difficulty ones to get settled in. Huge amount of variety because of this though to keep the game fresh.

I like how there is a free for all mode called doom mode, which is pretty good for practicing with some of the more attacking characters & seeing the obvious strengths and weaknesses in 1v1 battles of each character. You can also just play against bots on 3 different difficulty levels.

Other good things:

  • Prominent console only tick box to almost only play against controller players & so very unlikely to be playing against pc cheaters.

  • Paid Battle pass does not expire and you can carry on progressing regardless of what season the game is in. You just need to buy it in the season I think & you can’t buy old ones.

  • Most challenges for the battle pass unlock currency can be completed in any game mode including ai bots.

  • In unranked quick match, solo queuing, I have yet to have any toxic chat (in fact no chat at all), unlike other games like this where you get berated for being a rubbish casual noob either on voice or text & get completely put off playing it.

  • Very well presented & slick in terms of menus animations, general look & sounds. it’s appealing, slick, nice flashy banners and pop ups etc when you do something good in game or unlock something. It’s a well produced game that feels polished, premium & feels rewarding because of this.

  • No role requirements, everyone can choose whatever class they want, great for casual players who just want to have fun with the characters they like playing as.

  • For those that want to play more seriously, the ranked mode and built in, prize money tournaments appear to be well catered for with the ability to create factions/clans of some sort.

I on the negative side, I’ve got it set to 120fps mode on ps5, the resolution goes incredibly low when there is a ton of stuff going on, on screen during some huge chaotic battle to the point it just looks like a 240p blocky mess for a brief second sometimes.

The melee style characters are a bit of a pain to use on a controller. Quite literally, my fingers were getting pain from the constant button bashing of the analogue trigger every second rather than with a character with a gun where I can hold it down or a sniper with more planned precision occasionally shots.
