I brought this > MicroPhone<

The reason I didn't go for a super fancy one was I don't stream, so with filters etc, it's the perfect Microphone. Not had any issues with it at all and for me, making videos on both Eve Online & Minecraft, it works perfectly.

Hyper X or there is the Blue Yeti both very good quality and budget friendly.

I recently got the Elgato Wave 3, it's a USB mic, you can use it just plug and play, but it also comes with the Elgato Wave Link software which lets you separate sound channels by application on your PC which is handy if you want to stream and have different volume for things on your stream and what you are listening to, or be able to just mute sound from one app. It might be a bit complicated to what you want to use the mic for atm, but I'm very pleased with mine. You can easily adjust the mic sensitivity, it didn't pick up anything from my PC and laptop fans.

I used to use a Blue Yeti mic, but after sitting in storage for a while it stopped working! 🙄 Time to upgrade!

My bank account wasn't that happy when I bought all that Elgato kit in the Amazon sale (I blame Murrraaaay XD) but damn it was worth it. Really happy with my Elgato mic and it makes my life so much easier being able to control the different sounds on stream, mute voice chat separately if needed.

Been tinkering around with the Stream Deck all morning and I barely scratched the surface what it can do.

If you plan to do a vlogging, I recommend to buy a shotgun type of mic, as you can use it stationary and outdoors with your camera/phone rig. There are many options, but RØDE fairly priced and considered as industry standard. They are small, compact, universal. You can get one for £70-100 and keep some spare for good microphone Arm Stand and a pop filter, shock mount I think is in a bundle.

If stationary, then I recommend to pick USB one, type Cardioid Condenser. I highly recommend to take the one with a hardware monitor function, the gain knob might also be handy, and physical mute button. I do not recommend to buy Razer and other 'gaming' brands, i've tested and disassembled dozen - they all sux. I liked AVerMedia AM310 and imo it is still a very solid option, and it's dirt cheap, meaning you got budget for a proper arm, shock mount and a filter. Audio-Technica and Sennheiser also makes great mics under in £150 range.

Software - Audacity, there are no competitors here.

Alex Sinclair we might all benefit from some Tech bounties related to Streamer's gear. Mics, decks, cameras, capture cards, software, streaming computers, lights, backgrounds - many topics and knowledge to share.

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. I ended up going for a 2nd hand RØDE NT-USB for £80. Comes with a stand and pop filter. It's £145 new on amazon. Didn't want to go over the top with it and I can sell it on again for practically the same price I expect if it ends up being barely used.
