Hi peeps
Now I am not a massive content creator, but a small one (because of our target game) but I often when growing as a creator, broke down and gave up, because the content creation was a job, it was a "god damn I need more videos". But, in time, I have, shall we say moved past the things that push people to quit content creation. So, I thought I'd share our team views and tips, as we have six channels between us and we are all doing well.
YouTube/Twitch is a marathon, not a sprint - If you go into content creation expecting instant results, you are going to be very disappointed, and you will burn out.
Twitch - Stop looking at who is watching, just chat away to yourself and look at chat and see if anyone chats, if not, just keep on rolling, don't pay attention to who is watching unless they directly interact with you via chat.
YouTube - YouTube is not about subscribers/views/likes/dislikes - It is about watch time, it is about getting your viewers to watch your videos from start to finish, not skipping parts, if a video has bad overall watch time, it will not go into "recommended" videos for others looking around YouTube.
YouTube "publish/notify subscribers" - Make sure this option is "off" before putting shorts/videos live because if your subscribers don't watch the video/short, YouTube will consider it "bad content" and its "visibility" will be near zero to non-subscribers, just let it go into their algorithm and hope for the best.
YouTube - Likes/Dislikes - These have ZERO effect on visibility for "dislikes" People often think if they "dislike" a video, it will make it go away for others, this is not how it works. Any likes/dislike is counted as "video integration" and simply count towards overall video performance, so ignore those stats.
Being a sheep - Do not do this, make content you want to create, if you simply follow others' patterns and behaviour, there is nothing "unique" about you, you are simply one of thousands doing the same thing, make sure your content has its own unique twits or style.
Videos/YouTube - You don't need to make videos all the time. Set aside 1 day a week, to sit down, plan, decide and record your videos, if you get good at this, like us you can record up to 2-3 weeks' worth of content in 1 day. constantly making content every day, will burn you out, fast.
AI Content - Stay away from this, it is a fad, a jib, it is not here to stay and when it crashes, like it has before, you will be left with a load of videos that label you as "lazy". Not a good look for a content creator.
Twitch Streams - Set yourself 3-4 days a week, streaming 7 days a week is NOT healthy and it is not good for your mental health, you MUST take breaks and you MUST have a life outside of content creation and streaming. You will grow, streaming 7 days a week will NOT help and you will burn out and you will fail to achieve your goals.
Twitch Networking - Do NOT do this, it is not healthy, it does not help and when you network amongst small streamers, you are "sharing" your community. What happens here is that you raid the same 5-10 people and your community "follows" these communities and then suddenly, they come on Twitch and 10 streamers they like are streaming, you can see where it goes from there. I highly advise that you do not network share until you reach around 20-30k followers, because at that point you have a dedicated fan base that will happily watch you.
Just a few tips, that have kept me from making mistakes and burning out myself.
