A few months ago, we published a comprehensive article full of your expert gas huffing (harvesting) advice. This time, we wanted to provide more specific tips tailored to EVE Online’s so-called ninja huffers - the sneakiest of all the huffers. In brief, ninja huffing entails harvesting gas and getting out of dodge before the rats spawn. As such, a successful ninja huffer needs to be observant, speedy, and self-restrained.
We had some nice responses to our ninja huffing bounty, and we hope this mini guide produced from those entries helps. If it does, and you’d like us to run similar bounties for, say, jedi huffing or chameleon huffing, just let us know.

We’ll start with seven core pieces of advice from Squizz Caphinator.
"So you’ve found a gas cloud, and you want to huff it? It’s time to be on the lookout. Here are a few simple ground rules:
If you can’t afford to replace the ship, don’t fly it!
Watch your d-scan and use ‘V’ for the hot key. Set it to a small distance, no more than 2 or 4au (astronomical units). If you see probes or another ship, they’re probably hunting you.
If you see combat probes, they’re definitely hunting you.
Orbit that cloud! If you’re moving and not at the centre of the anomaly, you’ll be that much harder to catch.
Get ready to warp when you see someone show up on your overview. The slightest hesitation will let someone overcome their decloaking timer and lock you.
Have your overview set up with moons. If someone shows up, click a moon and hit the warp button. Don’t waste time with right clicks.
Don’t panic. If you get caught and you’re following my first rule, you’ll be fine. Gas huffing is profitable and you’ll be able to replace lost ships quickly."
EVEIL hails the lucrativeness of gas harvesting, but notes that you can only do so much with a single ship. Not everyone wants to invest in multiple accounts, but fortunately “CCP has graced players with three character slots per account”.
In their aptly titled video, ‘One billion ISK just floating there’, EVEIL shows how to maximise ninja huffing profits by using a Porpoise combined with a Prospect or two. (We’re not sure if that’s what our career advisor meant when they said to maximise our prospects, but here we are.) EVEIL also explains how compressing your gas as you go allows you to spend longer in J-space and less time ferrying your gas to market.
greybill kept it short with their advice, which is simply to watch the A Nomad’s Tale YouTube series by veteran player chloroken. It’s a beloved, exciting, and educational EVE series that highlights how, if you approach EVE with creativity, you’ll develop your own style of play. Here’s episode one.Meanwhile JAKEL33T shared two of their own videos, both tackling the ships you should be piloting while huffing. The first compares a variety of ships that work well and how much they earn per hour.
The second video goes into more detail on the Venture, a very popular choice for the job. It showcases an affordable fit specifically designed for ninja wormhole huffing. Speed and manoeuvrability are of the utmost importance in ninja huffing, so it comes equipped with nanos for those speedy exits. Here's the fit:Nanofiber Internal Structure II
1MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner
Sensor Booster II
