The no D scan is neat but when I jumped in the system was greeted by about 80 ONI at the gate, please do something to break up the gate camps day 1 in the new system I understand it is some peoples ideal gameplay but for normal capsuleers the gate camps really are a vibe killer. The lore behind everything is awesome but the gameplay is not matching the narrative just yet.

Zarzakh in its current form is little more than an Arena for sweaty nerds to fight in, the lack of DSCAN means whoever has the biggest fleet on the hill (Fulcrum Station) wins. There's no intel gathering tools such as DSCAN, cloaking and scouting, or even warping in at strategic bookmarks.

Ultimately I know this is just a beginning phase, but its lackluster and I will outright say it, pointless other than Yeeting ships into the grinder.

Zarzakh in its current form is meant to fix the low player count. New Eden was designed for a lot more players. The peak player count at one point hit 60k before Alpha accounts, DUST 514, and when people had fewer alts.

It takes too long to get fights and space isn't worth fighting over because it takes so much to make one constellation t productive. In a way, Zarzakh connects space moreso than filaments ever could. You can now have fleets from your staging reach every corner quickly, rather than just shipping stockpiles from Jita to the nearest staging system. This virtually condenses the map without having to remove systems or change existing mechanics.

I absolutely love the nebulosity/clouds in there, flying round the station is an absolute delight. Really looking forward to more action in system, it's a been bit quiet when we've been in there so far.

I like the effects/gameplay in the system, I think its main use will be as a "Toll Road" for null bloc shenanigans/PVP brawls/Gate Camps.

Adding in pirate faction "ways of play" is interesting but it remains to be seen how hard it will be to grind rep with whatever activities will be going on at the Zarzakh gates.

it's a step in the right direction for adding more diverse types of play. It will be a PVP mess at the vary least.

Basically Thera - but without the scanning.

It shrinks the map by making traveling easier. While that's convenient, it also makes the geography of New Eden less relevant.

I haven't decided if I like that yet. It's nice for people in big blocs who want to go places. It's nice for public fleets. It's nice for the daring hauler. It's not nice, if you are a small or mid-scale alliance that tries to establish your SOV, because now, you can get third-partied even easier.

Zarzakh feels like it could be a very dangerous place and some of the mechanics lend itself to manual pilotting really well. I suspect the meta will be kiting, not brawling, as kiting allows you to take engagements on your terms, and disengage as needed. As the system evolves, I am really curious to see what other changes they might bring in - temporary blackouts with no local? - that would surely harmonise well with the lack of directional scanner for example? I am really excited to see if this could be like a "thunderdome", for light and small gang warfare.
