It has to be The Room! If you get the chance to see a cinema showing of it, you’re in for a treat. It’s just… it’s… well it’s an experience! Just make sure to take plastic spoons is all I’m saying. If you know, you know. Anyway, I’ve never had such a joyful cinema experience. There is so much love for this film, just in a really weird love to hate to love it kinda way. It’s awful, but you kinda love it for its awfulness!

Street Fighter from 1994 has got to be my pick, its just so bad its good! Like the Actors cast dont fit the videogame versions they are meant to represent, for example Guile who is an American Air Force Soldier is played by Jean Claude Van Damme (who I love btw) but its hilarious as he has such a strong accent! TBH hardly any characters are true to their in game character apart from their name and slightly their look!? Also a HUGE miss is nowhere in the movie do we get Ken and Ryu use their infamous Shoryuken and Hadoken! Like what!?The Story is also pretty weak as you can imagine and really doesn't seem anything like the beloved video game franchise we all grew up with! There is No Tournament at all. Also Blanca, who I loved playing as a kid looks TERRIBLE in the movie lolKylie Minogue is also in the film and does an OK job as Cammy! BUT its amazing, and such an easy guilty pleasure watch lol.

This gets a WHOPPING 4.1 on IMDB lol But you will love it, trust me.

There is so much wrong with that film but also so much meme-ary that also came from it:

  • The fact that they worked so hard to get all the cast into the SF2 default outfits and then splashscreened their win poses at the end

  • That it was Raul Julia's last ever film - a great actor by all accounts and yet his legacy lives on in this film because his kids wanted him to be in it and now he's probably best known for saying 'OF COURSE' thanks to NC

  • That Street Fighter (whether unintentionally) is a series about nationalities coming together with their Martial Arts, design and personalities but this film casts the muscles from Bussels Jean-Claude with a thick European accent as the American Hero Guile, and Aussie pop-princess Kylie Minogue as the British commando Cammy White. (those two also had an off-set fling as well!)

  • Canonically naming E. Honda's first name as Edmund (a very un-traditional Japanese name)

I could go on but man.. that film should've been dead, forgotten and lore removed and yet it persists...

Alex Sinclair's avatar

That is an excellent level of Street Fighter knowledge.

If you haven't seen Hobo with a Shotgun then you haven't experienced movies.

Whilst the acting is very questionable and SFX on a shoestring budget, there is still something you catch every time that you didn't notice before.

I know the rules state it has to be below 5 out of 10 on IMDB, but everyone not knowing about this is a disservice.

THREE HEADED SHARK

This is the worst and absolutely most magical movie of all time. I was watching this on a boring new years eve and the name caught my attention. I'm a big wrestling fan and this movie starred Rob Van Damn who gets his arm bitten off, Brooke Hogan and some random actor who's only line in the show for 30 minutes was "Are we Safe" after his friend got eaten by a shark, we could not stop laughing at how ridiculous this movie was and how fake the blood was. "Are we safe" is an inside joke, I'm pretty sure they made five headed shark which I NEED to watch.

I wonder if RVD keeps his arm in that one..

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Well this is going on my list. One of the things I immediately like about it is that I don't think a three-headed shark is necessarily more scary than a one-headed shark. But hey, you've seen it... am I wrong?

A

3 headed sharked means there are 3 heads that can attack you!! One of the heads also ate the other head, its gets way more aggressive as it gets more heads hahhahah

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Haha! I like the idea that the heads eat each other until they reach their ferocious final form: the dreaded one-headed shark

Makster's avatar

Jaws 4 (Jaws: The Revenge) kinda killed the series and audiences were fatigued with just the same old one-headed Shark routine.

Just like the economy, we are headed towards a shark inflation economy with multiheaded shark, shark tornados, honestly this market is going to sleeping with the fishes if we aren't too careful

Alex Sinclair's avatar

What I'm getting is that 3-Headed Shark Attack is actually a nuanced satirical analysis of a post-globalised late-capitalist market system. Is that right?

Makster's avatar

They're up to 6 now! I wonder why they skipped 4..

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Look, I don't want to seem like a buzzkill, but there has to reach a point when this shark is no longer hydrodynamic and can no longer swim in a straight line  🤣

Konquest's avatar

For me it’s gotta be Pootie Tang, a classic 🤣

The main character doesn’t talk much and even when he does it doesn’t make sense. It just brings me back to an era where humor wasn’t as limited as media today and everything was just plain fun.

check the trailer below. If you haven’t watch it, then you gotta check it out!

that's the film The Architect rented in Scary Movie 3 but accidentally returned the cursed VHS from The Ring to Blockbuster

00's era films have a special place in my heart. Back when it was all about outrage humour, trying to one-up people in terms of pushing the boundary. Jackass were terrorising the American public with their stunts before prank YouTubers, and Sacha Baron Cohen highjacked one too many interviews with Ali G and of course, Borat.

So my Z-Grade film is:

Seemingly a one man show in front of a green screen of the obscure Hong Kong Martial Arts film: Tiger & Crane Fists, it really is amazing the amount of humour they cram into pre-made footage. Lampooning martial arts films, poor dubbing, and the best Man vs Cow fight scene committed to film, it honestly had my buddy and I in tears when we first watched it and a traditional sleep over watch through.

Sturmer's avatar

I value the time of JA members too much to recommend anything rated below 5. For a lolz, you might check out productions by The Asylum, known for their notorious straight-to-DVD releases a.k.a. gas-station blockbuster knockoffs.

While many bad movies have high ratings, it's rare to find good ones with low ratings. An exception could be "Space Station 76" (2014), which scores 4.9 on IMDb. It’s a comedy set in a uniquely envisioned '70s-style future space station. However, do watch the trailer before diving in—don't say I didn't warn you if you feel like it's time wasted!

I don't like this type of comedies. I don't like movies about stupid Americans and the people in this movie are beyond stupid.

Story in a nutshell: two average Americas get hibernated and they wake up in a future where people are extremely stupid and the two of them find themselves to be the most clever people alive on Earth. It hurt to watch all the destruction of things we value and just human nature in general. It was hard to suffer through it and I won't to it again, once was enough thank you, but it's frightening how this movie could be a not so distant future.

Time to invest in Gatorade?

I thought this movie was funny

Lanah Tyra's avatar

It is funny I can't deny that, just it's so not my kind of funny that for me it's definitely Z tier :D

And I had to realise it has higher rating than stated in the bounty criteria, so probably it won't qualify.

Sturmer's avatar

Hold on, it's quite an iconic movie actually and its rating is over 6.5! It gave us so many memes!

Lanah Tyra's avatar

Checked my other nominees for this and all of them are like 6.4-6.5. I guess that's my personal threshold for Z-grade XD

Kane Carnifex's avatar

Okay, Okay…. Jeah damn it all of them are to high rated.

I present to you “Flesh-Eating Mothers” from 1988 with a rating of 4,3 on IMDB. Comedy / Horror

Why is this on my list?

A Teen is getting bitten by his Mother and his response is she must have her red days. The effects are just too much but the right amount to be a splatter. And the setup of 80s US Teens made it ridiculous for me. Just the conversations they have in the crisis is pure gold.

MIAMI CONNECTION!

In real life an immigrant came to america and dreamed to make a great action movie. He used his money from taekwondo teaching to make this movie. And it as so basly recieved. it bankrupted him! many years later it was discovered as a hidden gem.

with hilarious dialogue, adult orphans, great fight scenes and the greatest martial arts band you have ever seen.

It literally is up there as one of the best bad movies ever made but not many people have seen it !

Thomas's avatar

Sounds amazing. I'm especially into how large that man's face is in comparison to his head in the illustration

Alex Sinclair's avatar

I also came here to talk about the size of the man's face. But the film does sound like a lot of fun!

Aztec Rex - The dumbest thing I ever watched, but it's so bad you can't stop watching it, it's that simple.

Movie Blurb

"IN 1518 A.D. ONLY THE NOBLEST WARRIORS SURVIVE

The Aztecs summoned a Tyrannosaurus Rex to keep Cortes and his army out of Mexico. Now they need the Conquistadors’ help to stop the T-Rex from killing them all."

-- IMBD Rating 3/10

Horrible CGI, doesn't drag out, it's just a laugh, to be honest.

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Wow, that one is new to me. What a plot!

FirestormGamingTeam's avatar

I mean it's absolute garbage but, worth a watch lol

Emilia's avatar

This was maybe one of the worst films I have ever watched, down to the acting, the premise, the absolute defamation of Dickens' original story. Yet, I have never laughed this much whilst watching a film (likely because I couldn't comprehend how anyone had given it the green light for production). The film is 'A Christmas Karen', a clear reinterpretation of 'A Christmas Carol' with, you guessed it, a Karen. The whole film was honestly an experience I will never forget (I mean I remember it better than most films I have watched). If you're looking for a movie that makes you think yeah, I could make a better one, then you should watch this.

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Okay, apologies to Dickens, but I'm sold. I can't quite bring myself to watch it in April, but this Christmas I'm settling in for a viewing of A Christmas Karen.

Utter Uwe Boll game-to-movie detritus… but I love it.

It’s a derivative of its time, badly acted, badly written, badly shot (though actually had some pretty decent practical effects periodically) and currently sits at ONE PERCENT on Rotten Tomatoes, 2.4 stars on IMDB.

Honestly, as a viewing experience, it’s probably the least offensive of the Uwe Boll offerings. It was based on a series which had already lost its brand identity at the time and really just went whole hog on the trench coat wearing, bullet time using, kill-quipping action.

Alex Sinclair's avatar

"Some terrors can never be stopped."

There's so much frowning in this trailer, and what a gear change at 00.50!

IIIII STAND ALOOONE. So 2005 lmao

Makster's avatar

Honestly the classic and the GOAT.

I'd highly suggest picking up 'The Disaster Artist' - it's an autobiography/ behind the scenes of The Room written by Greg 'oh hai Mark' Sestero. They made it into a James Franco film but I implore people to get the book or audiobook. It is honestly incredible as a story of how Greg and Tommy met, Tommy's jealously of Greg's career, his inspiration of The Room - being 'The Talented Mr Ripley' and of course, how the filming went for The Room

Tom's avatar

Thanks Makster. I listened to the audiobook when the film (the Franco one) came out but I don't think I absorbed it properly. I might be due another watch of The Room and another read of the book over the summer... 🥄

Was this bounty made specifically for me? 😈

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Perhaps! What film would you enter if you could?

Boomer's avatar

Some friends and I used to talk about running a sh*t film club. Not movie bombs or guilty pleasures, but ones that know they're bad and that's what makes them great.

This absolute gem was top of my list! 😆

"Plan 9 from Outer Space" is often dubbed as one of the worst movies ever made, but its sheer incompetence and unintentional humor make it a strangely enjoyable experience.

One of those "so bad it's good" movies for me was "Sharknado." It's absurd, over-the-top, and filled with ridiculous scenarios, but somehow it's incredibly entertaining to watch.

As for me, wrong turn is quite a wonderful movie even thought it might not be for most of people

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Hey NeoKazuho and welcome! It looks like you've made a 'reply' rather than an entry to this bounty. You'll need to re-enter and hit the 'submit' button. To be in the running for a prize, I'd also suggest adding a little more detail (and choosing a film that has less than a 5/10 rating on IMDB)

P.S. Wrong Turn gave me nightmares!
