Exponential growth of AI
AI is already pretty scary with what it can achieve now but imagine the applications AI could have if it was integrated into quantum computing technology? Imagine how much scarier it could be? EveOnlineTutorials Touched on it briefly, but the implications are FAR more widespread and potentially dangerous for humanity as it is.
Military Applications
Humans make mistakes, they get scared, they have egos. There's all kinds of problems that can arise from humans fighting in wars; whether it's the perils on the front-lines, or having to make difficult and possibly world-changing split second command decisions in the heat of battle. Yet, it's also been what's kept us from certain nuclear Armageddon.
Now what would happen if battlefield command was given to AI? In milliseconds, it could decide what an appropriate response might be and the most strategic targets. It could launch squadrons of AI controlled fighter jets to attack those targets, launch missiles itself without authorisation and calculate target positions, sub-orbital trajectories. All without a single human ever pressing a single button.
Yet it wouldn't have that human touch, that gut instinct, the will to survive that's prevented cataclysms so fat.
Total Control
If you think life is bleak now, with everyone and everything trying to tell you what to do. Telling you their versions of right, or wrong. Imagine a future where all aspects of human life, are controlled by AI. Where you have NO SAY in what is right or wrong, where you have no vote in governance, where you have little to no freedom of expression, opinion or thought.
Your skills would be predetermined by genetic alteration, generated by AI based on what will be needed by the time you come of age. Giving you all the genetic tools you need to be good at your assigned task. Sure you might be physically healthier, and more intelligent than humans are now but every aspect of your life, even your birth itself, strictly controlled by AI.
Forget Skynet, you'll likely never see this enemy, you'll never be able to fight it. Yet it's one that has the potential to control your whole life and what's worse? Even as you sleep, it's getting smarter, it knows what you're going to do before you've even thought about doing it.
Such a future is very possible if we're not careful and responsible with powerful tools like quantum computing and AI. We have been up until now, the right questions have been asked by the right people but all it takes is one irresponsible state actor and things could get out of control very quickly. Who knows what they're already utilizing and testing behind the scenes?
