Oh my sweet child that takes me back.

I cleared out my childhood room last year and found mine. Sadly a battery has leaked all over it though I still got some decent GBA games in great condition (KH CoM, Pokemon Emerald, Harvest Moon, FF Tactics Advance)

Awesome. They are not too expensive on ebay if you are looking for a "new" one.

I made the mistake of not really keeping a lot of my old tech so all I have really is this which is my MacBook. I’ve got it brand-new when I started university in 2015 as a present and it stayed with me ever since it still works really well. It’s a little slow but you can see sort of like a little time caption in terms of stickers that I’ve accumulated over the shell of the laptop. You can see everything that was really into. I was Harry Potter, Disney attack on Titan I was obsessed with Carlos bakery and cake boss I loved watching teen Wolf and supernatural so it’s really funny how this shell of a laptop really it’s just a time capsule to what my life was like almost 10 years ago which is really weird to say now!

here is an item i use most days, as being part of a two man team that need to communicate across a site.

We can also link in with other teams on other channels and is much better and quicker solution than mobile phones and also eliminates safeguarding issues of having phones.

This is my beautiful Television VCR combi that I’ve had since my 15th Christmas, 25 years ago. I always wanted a TV for my own room so I could play Final Fantasy VIII without being interrupted.

Whilst the TV side of things has long since been deemed dead due to the switch off of analog TV transmission in the UK, the VCR still works which allows me to rewatch childhood memories in their original form, and I use it every weekend to play my PS1 and my SNES for some nostalgia gaming.

I certainly have older stuff but I don't use it on any sort of regular basis.

I use it for my hardware reviews to make macro shots.

I bought it secondhand a decade ago, but it still works great.

From on-calls to getting bleeped from every ward in the hospital - I am a slave to this bleeper. It's like a baby - it calls and I have to tend to it (I guess that sets me up for later life).

To be fair this thing does work extremely well and covers an incredible distance. I've been across town or accidentally taken it home and it'll scream for attention. Now if only it had an in-built pedometer I can track how often I've had to go across site to address a medical emergency

hell, are they still using them?! I thought that standard was removed from cell towers decades ago

I imagine how looks software to send these messages

So this is my Creative sound system, which in my opinion, still outstrips most modern systems. I have had this mini sound system for nearly ten years (as you can tell by the stickers and condition of it) It's a simply jack into the back of the PC and two connections into the back of the sub.

It can achieve very loud volumes and still maintain sound integrity and has never failed me (although the left speaker does cut out now and then, a simple nudge of the sub and it works again) but I have never felt the need to replace it. Unlike most systems, as I said, it runs off a jack, rather than USB which most systems run off now.

it's just such a reliable system, as I said I got it about ten years ago (give or take a year).

Well if we strictly take it as something I personally use, then it's my 7 year old coffee machine. I already bought it as refurbished when my previous one gave up just after the warranty expired on it, so I didn't expected this one to last long but I assume you can't go wrong with a De'Longhi.

But if we take the oldest tech in the house, then the award has to go for my partner's 17 year old Lenovo laptop. It's a bit slow and the battery doesn't really last anymore, but he still uses it to edit books when we are traveling somewhere, so it's still perfectly fine for basic office work. Quite shocking to think that at my previous workplace people were complaining about their 2 year old laptops that they were old.

Update: partner just said that "what is mine is yours, though I doubt that you would want it, you have a shiny gaming laptop" since he glanced over and saw what I was writing 😂

My first ever console, the PS2, which is actually a tad older than me, and I still play on it to this day. Well it's not technically the exact same one, as the disc drive broke in that one, and it cost too much to repair. I also bought a fat model more recently just to mess around with.

Meet my beloved Kindle Paperwhite 1st Edition, a trusty companion on my escapist adventures since its release in 2012. That's right, this little gadget has been by my side for 12 wonderful years, proving that some tech just doesn't need replacing when it works like a charm.

Usage: Daily

Why I Still Use It:

This Kindle has traveled with me through countless worlds and stories, making it the ultimate door to another dimensions and adventures. It's lightweight, easy on the eyes with its e-ink display, and has a battery life that feels almost magical – I charge it maybe once a month, and it’s good to go!

Fun Fact:

It's not just a gadget, butmore like an old friend who knows all my favourite authors and genres. Together, we've explored so many adventures! It might not have the fancy features of the latest models, but it has heart, and that’s what makes it irreplaceable.

Here's a photo of my Kindle Paperwhite 1st Edition, still going strong:

If it ain't broke, why replace it?!

I never got rid of any of my old consoles which I am glad now that I done this, so I have a collection of them but my oldest and very console was the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. This console holds a special place in my heart because for me this is where my passion for gaming started so that is why I still regularly loads up games like

Aladdin

Super Mario World

Donkey Kong Country

Mario Kart

Mario Paint

I still have many more games but these were some of my favourites back when I was a kid and still are some of my favourite retro classics today especially the Mario games, The SNES was my first console that I have had for over 30 years now so I like to play it still to feel the nostalgia and enjoy the same games that I did when I was just a kid. This console was the start of my gaming journey and is where my passion for gaming started and in a way it partly shaped my life and help turn me into the gamer that I am today. Plus sometimes you just can't beat the good old classic games.
