I think it depends on if you’re using the device for content creation as a hobby or seriously to make money as a business? And also what your budget is has a big part to play!

Also maybe you could find a halfway house which can get you by for a bit with maybe used or refurbished products??

I think at this point we better say it's a hobby as none of my channels are even close to getting monetised. Plus I don't have press access to venues so I think any decent camera apart from phone cameras is out of option.

I could justify paying up to £500 for a phone and I don't mind buying refurbished ones but used ones are a bit hit and miss as usually they will have scratches or cracks on the screen. Heard that Samsung S Ultras and Google Pixel phones are apparently really good for concert photography / recording. The new ones are definitely out of my budget, but maybe one a couple of years older would do the trick. As much as I was happy to get my current Moto g82 for around £250 I had to realise its camera is just not up for the task I want to use it for, plus it's quite shocking they only support security patches for 3 years, so mine will end next July.

I would recommend apples official refurbished store, I’ve bought stuff from there previously and it is literally brand new as they replace the screen battery and shell! Worth maybe looking at one of their older models as would be a good phone for your photography and creative work! Worth having a look as different models always come in and out of stock and you get the same Apple warranty as new devices 👌

The only Apple product I ever had was one of the first ipod with the big touch screen. And I got super mad when after 3 years apps were not installing on it anymore 😅

I've always been an Android person, I have an iphone for work but barely touch it apart from using for MFA as I'm lost in the menu. I have all my content stuff in google drive so I can sync it on my PC and on my phone as well (posting game screenshots on the go to Insta and such). How does the google stuff work on Apple? And... since you seem to love your Apple stuff, why do you prefer it compared to Android?

I still have time to buy so want to get as many trusted opinions as I can. Debating between the Samsung S6 Lite and an older iPad for my Japanese studies (dislike the fact that you have to buy the Apple pencil separately... plus I think the older iPads which fit my needs would be still more expensive than the Samsung tablet) Will see what prices there will be for Black Friday. And I won't swap my phone until this one is still getting updates, so that would be only next year around July.
