So for me, this starts with

Slay The Spire - Very nice graphics for what it was, very old school cgi story feel to it, gripping as well from the trailer.

My other games from the live show I like the look of are

Endzone II Norland Old World Dino Lords

One game that I was glad to see again was Gestalt: Steam and Cinder. I played the demo a while back and it's been on my wishlist since November 2021 and whilst I don't think it's a groundbreaking metroidvania it still looks a solid addition to the genre and I'm keen to try more of it.

I was hooked on 33 Immortals when I saw the trailer start. I immediately said to my friend who was watching it with me, "is this the Sundered devs?" The artwork, voice acting and animation definitely gave them away and it was indeed a Thunder Lotus game (Spirtifarer, Jotun and Sundered among their other games). I love a roguelike and with their artistic genius behind them I think this could be one that sneaks on to a lot of peoples wishlists and I've signed up to be on the closed beta when the time comes!

The other for me was Hyper Light Breaker - I must confess I've never played the first one but I've enjoyed watching a few playthroughs on Twitch of it but when I saw the trailer for HLB it felt like a crossover of Risk of Rain 2 and HLD so it will be interesting to get to grips with it!

Final tip of the hat to Vampire Survivors and their Contra DLC, for a simplistic premise that game continues to go from strength to strength and that DLC will probably throw me right back into the steely grip of that game again!

Dino Lords, the game for me that really stood out and looked liked good fun. Looked a little bit like Age Of Empires with dinosaurs!

'Age of Empires with dinosaurs' is me sold. I hope the player gets to control the dinosaurs at some point rather than just defend against them...

V Rising

It's a fantastic list and a great show—I really enjoy the rapid-fire mode of Triple-I. It's tough to pick just one game, but V Rising - Legacy of Castlevania is definitely on my radar. Stunlock Studios has done an exceptional job of incorporating the iconic theme into their game. The Alucard set looks particularly exciting, and knowing Stunlock’s reputation for engaging gameplay and innovative design, I’m sure it will be a thrilling experience!

I have been out of the loop for many years so I’ll watch the whole thing and comment with where I’m getting a reaction or interest.

so far I am loving the look and feel of:

Shadow of doubt - it has a bit of a film noir feel and I can’t ever say no to the Lego esque art style

Dinolords - this looks like a resource management, tower defence type game plus dinosaurs. Again I can’t say no.

Flintlock: siege of dawn looks incredible. Definitely interested to see what the game play will be like.

Never alone 2 - looks so pretty and lovely

Ravenswatch looks fun but I’m not a big co-op player so will see how you can play it when it releases.

cat quest 2 is going my my wishlist because cats!

hyper light breaker also looks great but could be too much battling for me. I’ll keep an eye on it to see what other game mechanics will be there.

Tchia looks really promising too.

mouse - not really my vibe but may have to have a look due to its art style

V rising: legacy of castlevania is warming my little teenage goth heart. Can’t wait!

Alright, let's dive into the digital wonderland of the Triple-I show and spotlight a few indie gems that spark my enthusiasm with the fiery passion of a thousand indie game devs working through their fourth cup of coffee!

First up, "Darkest Dungeon" - This game isn’t just dark, it’s like if darkness had a dark side. It's twisted, it's complex, and it constantly keeps you on the edge of your comfy gaming chair. The way it mixes psychological stress (of my characters, not me… okay, maybe me a little) with traditional dungeon crawling is pure genius. I’m excited to see how they up the ante in the showcase, because let’s face it, nothing says fun like your hero developing paranoia right when you need them the most!

Next, "V Rising" - Who doesn’t want to wake up as a vampire in a sunless world, where your biggest headache is managing your undead real estate and avoiding a sunburn? V Rising is the ultimate supernatural sandbox, and I’m biting my nails (not necks) in anticipation to see what new spooky, gothic features will be unveiled. Will there be new castles to conquer? More blood potions? Count me in… Dracula.

And then there's "Slay the Spire" - If you love card games and climbing deadly spires (and who doesn’t?), this game is your jam. It’s like playing poker where the stakes are your life, not just your money. Every new card and encounter could be your last, making each decision thrillingly strategic. I can't wait to see what new cards or fiendish bosses they’re planning to introduce. Here’s hoping for a card that lets me actually slay a spire!

"Dead Cells" - This game is so fluid and fast that my reflexes officially need a caffeine boost just to keep up. It’s a rogue-like that doesn’t just break the mold; it smashes it with a pixelated sledgehammer. New weapons, new enemies, more rage-inducing dead ends? Bring it on! I’m all geared up to see how they plan to expand this already expansive and explosively exciting game world.

Last but not least, "Hyper Light Drifter" - This game is an absolute visual and auditory masterpiece. It’s like the developers took neon, nostalgia, and pure, unadulterated adventure, threw it into a game blender and created this stunning pixel-art smoothie. More secrets? More areas to explore? Yes, please. I’m ready to drift hyper-lightly into whatever new content they throw at us.

So, if you couldn't tell, I'm a little excited. I'm ready to see these indie developers strut their stuff and dazzle us with their creative genius. Let’s gear up, game on, and may the best indie titles win our hearts (and spare time) all over again!

Vampire Survivors Operation Guns DLC - why? Because it means I can sink more hours into Vampire Survivors and not keep running the same content. It's the only game I come back to time and time again and always have a blast. So now being able to do that with more content, and to pay the dev a few extra quid for the privilege is great.

Slay the spire. That game basically created a new genre of the games and became inspirational for whole generation of gamers.

this project deserves a highlight!

My top 3 are:

  • Slay the Spire 2— the first is amazing and I've spent far too many hours playing across my PS5 and mobile phone. They did such a good job on the first, now with a bigger budget being likely and an army of fans behind them, this is surely going to be a winner!

Rogue Prince of Persia - this looks like it's going to be a great roguelite. An interesting art style and free flowing combat and traversal. Hopefully will exceed expectations much like The Lost Crown has!

V Rising Castlevania Crossover - 2 winning formulas, hope this lives up to the hype. Castlevania wouldn't just put its name on anything so this could be top drawer!

So many good Indies coming out in the next 12 months or so, we are spoilt!

so hyped for Slay the Spire 2! Loved the first one. I’m really curious as to how Mega Crit are going to evolve the series as the first game plays so well. Looks like there’ll be a new character and I assume new cards. Making sure the gameplay is balanced though will be vital. Looking forward to seeing more in the future!

Lot of love for Slay the Spire 2 in this thread. I missed the first one but it looks like the kind of thing that's easily playable in bite-sized chunks, which is kinda what I need right now!
