Hey HereisTrev, nice base! Love the (not at all creepy!) display cabinets full of teddy bears. Unfortunately, we do need the images to be verified via social media to be eligible for the rewards. We'll delay awarding this bounty until after the weekend, to give you some time to reply to this with a social media post as per the details in the bounty description. Let me know if you have any questions!

Why The Castle is the Ultimate Base in Fallout 4

Hey fellow wastelanders! If you're looking for the best spot to set up HQ in Fallout 4, you can't beat The Castle. Here's why this old War fortress is a great place:

  • Location, Location, Location: Positioned on the coast, The Castle is surrounded by water on three sides, making it a pain for raiders to sneak up on you. Plus, it's centrally located for easy access to all the key spots in the Commonwealth.

  • Fortification Friendly: Those high walls and narrow gates? Perfect for setting up defenses. Turrets, traps, you name it – making it a raider's nightmare and your safe haven.

  • Room to Grow: There’s tons of space to build whatever you need – from workshops and trader spots to your own personal sleeping quarters.

  • Resource Rich: Water all around means plenty of spots for water purifiers. Farm in the courtyard, and you’ve got your food supply sorted. Self-sufficiency at its best!

  • Minutemen HQ: Taking back The Castle isn’t just practical, it’s symbolic. It’s the historical heart of the Minutemen, and restoring it feels like you’re really making a difference in the Commonwealth.

Hello! Today, I'm excited to present my cosy base, home to a close-knit group of individuals who share the same values. We construct large scientific structures and cultivate crops for sustenance. Together, we sleep, create beauty by collecting paintings of stunning animals, and hang them on our walls. Should anyone dare attack our Sanctuary, we unite and strike back with passion. As a woman living in the Wasteland, it's crucial for me to be not just strong but also stylish to maintain control over everything.

My base is set in Fallout 76 and is initially a big building but as you delve deeper there are some interesting finds. I have quickly combined photos so I don't spam the bounty with loads of photos so I apologise for the quality and resizing of the images.

The tour starts near the entrance where the garage doors open to welcome you in to the ground floor, which houses the nuclear power generator and an interesting door. Now we head upstairs to see the games room with Alien invaders arcade machine and a lumberjack slot machine so you can rest, have fun and maybe a little luck. Unfortunately the next floor is pretty useless for now so we will head up to the roof where you can stare out at the river and craft all your necessary items.

Now back to the ground floor to find out what is behind that interesting door. This leads to a large cave with a house, archeological dig and a hidden lounging area with a secret message. Entering the house you see a variety of trophies and interesting finds from the wasteland, downstairs is another entrance. Inside this entrance is a house that will be used if any further apocolypse situations arise.

(I have several shelters and I had the idea of making a story with them so as you go further into the shelters it feels like you are going further and further underground. I do have another shelter but I stopped playing fallout 76 before I furnished it. I hope to get something sorted but not in enough time for this bounty).

Heres my base in Fallout 76. I haven't played in a while because I cant link my Bethesda account to steam but I loved this little shack.

I set it upon the river a way up the road from the starting area with free water, ammo, chems etc and utilities for people to use.

I will probably get the game again on ps5 as once it was patched the game improved massively.

(Apologies for the awful screenshots- PS5 share is a bit dodgy so I had to take photos on my phone!)

I built a camp at one of the monorail cars in the Crnaberry Bog and designed it to look like a station platform- being a well-seasoned train traveller, it felt fitting. There's a vendor to shop for items in, various food and drink stands for a quick snack, all the necessary crafting benches for any 76 player and even a ticket booth!

There's even a little story to behind why I chose this location to build a CAMP. So, my friends and I would play a game called Nuka'd and Afraid, where we would drink Nukashine- which is a drink that will make you black out and teleport to 1 of 36 random locations and wherever we end up, we must race back to the origin of the Nukashine quest 4 times, naked with no perks or weapons either. This point is the farthest away spawn point and is also in the highest level area of the map, so there's a lot of tough enemies to dodge; making running from here both time-consuming and stressful. So, I decided to just live there, since I ended up there so much.

The build itself was quite complicated to figure out as Fallout 76 is very particular about what is classed as "the ground" for you to build on and where you can place your CAMP. Luckily, there was a spot that high off of what you would typically consider the ground where I could place it and the "height" of your build can only be 3 "tiles" higher or lower than where you place it, so I managed to hide the CAMP itself within the monorail car and then attached platforms above the monorail part that was classed as "the ground" and then extended the platforms to create the station itself and then a cafe/bar opposite for people who have a slightly longer wait for their monorail.

Hey Letitia Lemon, this is an ace submission and these are some great shots! Unfortunately, we do need the images to be verified via social media to be eligible for the rewards. The only problem with that is that this build is on Playstation and PS5 no longer has the ability to share images/clips to social media. I probably have a clip on stream of me touring chat around the camp- would that suffice or must it be a post on socials?

Ford James's avatar

Hey Letitia Lemon, apologies for the delay getting back to you here! We'll award it on this occasion as the context makes clear that the content is yours, but ordinarily yes, we do need images and videos posted through a social account you've connected to your JA profile. This helps us to be more sure of the provenance of a piece of content. It's an extra hoop to jump through compared to the old feature of sharing directly from the console, but I believe you can save screenshots from your PS5 to your phone by downloading the PS App, then you can share to social media from there, if that makes things a little easier for you in future!
