This is obviously a very simplified view of looking at video games, but what do you folks make of the idea that there are only two types of game: menus and parkour?
The gist of it is that there are games that make you think, which are 'menu' games because you can be proactive and plan. Other examples would be Fallout/Skyrim (in fact most RPGs), Civ, Hades, Elden Ring, most Pokemon games...
Then on the flip side, you have reactionary games. Sure, you might have a plan in mind, but for the most part you're reacting to everything happening around you, so these games rely on reflexes more. Tetris, Fortnite, classic Mario platformers, Team Fortress 2, most racing games...
What do you think? And what category would you put your favourite game in?
