Probs gonna be a difference between good and whether it meets expectations.

The longer a games series coupled with anticipation and long development time means that it is set a bar that is very hard to meet.

See Duke Nukem Forever and how it failed to meet it. And then look at Half Life Alyx which can be called an unofficial Half Life 3

It really is like you said! When we analyze expectations, I see that people who have played Skyrim and don't follow the development tend to imagine that the game will be a masterpiece. But those who are seeing how production is going and also with recent releases, probably have a much more realistic expectation.

Honestly I think will be great game but the devs should face their engine the Creation Engine 2. That looking at Starfield is a improvement of the first engine but still have the same problems that cause the famous bugs and give similar limitations to the game, like the inventory of the vendors is a box hidden underground.

About the difficulty of the modders to create mods at the beginner of the game probably is due to the new engine as well. Still very similar but there is new things that the modders community have to understand first. I think when TES VI comes out the modders will have enough experience already to do the mod a little faster.

Hmm, that's interesting! I understand the difficulties related to new engines (it took UE5 a while to get going too, it's almost like learning everything from scratch) but I don't think Bethesda helps itself either. The idea of them releasing incomplete games like the last releases of Fallout 76 and Starfield are really dumb decisions.

I've noticed that Starfield's mods have started to appear more fluently, it must be because of what you said about learning the engine, let's hope that TES VI comes prepared for this new scenario!

My only hope for ES6 is that they move away from the creation engine, it holds the games back so much.

I think TES6 failing to live up to the hype is kind of inevitable. It's basically Half-Life 3 in terms of fan anticipation, except this game is likely to actually come out. Someone else has mentioned it, already, but for me it also holds true: The biggest test is going to be how well the new engine holds up. I was hoping Starfield would be able to give us a preview in terms of what to expect from it, but that game wound up being a mess by all accounts, so it feels like Creation Engine 2 is still untested.

Mods are also likely to be a huge factor in terms of longevity, and again this was something I'd hoped to use Starfield as a preview for, but the modding community just doesn't seem as strong as Skyrim (or Oblivion or Morrowind, for that matter). Whether that's due to the lack of a player base, the fact that the official creation kit has only been out for a couple of months now, or the engine itself being a pain to work with isn't really known, and that uncertainty is probably my biggest source of concern for TES6.
