My recommendation would be the Throne of Glass which is a fantasy story and it is the first in a series of books by Sarah J. Maas. The story is a great read which you follow an assassin Celaena Sardothien and her struggles to free herself from the slave camp by taking an offer to go against other assassins to try become the kings champion to eventually earn her freedom again after 4 years of service

I found it an really interesting story that kept me captivated with the story of this assassin and her struggles.

My submission is:

This is a nice book, small, and easy to shall we say, digest, it's also won multiple awards.

In this book, we follow three mercenaries who are put to guard a noble, which then leads to more duties, but the politics of Lamut quickly get darker and the three are dragged into it and put into positions they don't want to be, but with Lamut surrounded by a huge blizzard and snow drifts, they are trapped...

As someone who struggles with ADHD-like symptoms, reading books can be challenging for me. However, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, with its numerous episodic adventures and humorous anecdotes, seems like an ideal choice. The book's structure, filled with short, engaging episodes, makes it easier to stay focused and entertained, providing a perfect balance of wit and adventure.

I think one of the best to read on the beach has to be something easy and not to strenuous. Essentially you are on holiday as a form of self care, you want to relax and destress. A perfect book to read is Why has nobody told me this before by Dr Julie Smith which is a very easy to read wellbeing book which goes into a lot of details about why things stress you out in the first place, how to keep an eye on when it is building and how to look after yourself! A good read to make your relaxing holiday more relaxing

The series of books that I consider a good read during the summer would be the Storm Runner Trilogy by J.C Cervantes. This contains The Storm Runner (Book 1), The Fire Keeper (Book 2), and The Shadow Crosser (Book 3). The reason why this series are perfect for summer is because they are inspired by Mayan Mythology, the locations of the books take place in Mexico, New Mexico, Isla Holbox, and other warm locations, and is published under Rick Riordan Presents (a company created by Rick Riordan whose series Percy Jackson, often takes place at a summer camp).

In any season, i try to read new books. And I think a supernatural tone would fit nice this summer, and this one caught my eye.

The Tunnel to Summer, The Exit of Goodbyes

A story about a boy who lost many things and he wants to get them back. There is a legend about a tunnel that can grant wishes of those who entered but at the cost of your lifespan.

It’s a fun story, with a little bit of romance on the side.

I think a collection of short stories are perfect for holiday reading. Something you can get through in a couple of minutes inbetween boarding, waiting for luggage or just chilling out on the beach or bar.

I'd recommend Men without Women which ironically enough explores the relationship between men and the women in their lives. A more mature Murakami without the awkward sex scenes he likes to normally put in his longer form novels. Each story does make you think and re-evaluate your own relationships or even lets you see into the mind of each other's gender.

Found 'Sapiens' by Yuval Noah Harari on a shared shelf in a cafe and couldn't resist. It's a great book for expanding your horizons. Our history, wind, tranquility, and a dramatic sunset.

My old housemate gifted me this book and I still haven't read it fully. But the first few chapters I have read is incredibly fascinating. I can't believe that gossiping is an evolutionary trait but it makes sense as a key form of communication in keeping the desirable members in the tribe and isolating the weaker members

Usually for traveling I prefer to bring manga or comics as I find it easier to read them, this time I'll make an exception thought and bring my new treasure when we go to Hungary in July. I know the story of the book, but haven't read it yet as for a while it was out of stock and I only managed to get it recently.

I love both ladies of FF7 and this book is about their childhood and backstory which we don't hear in detail in the games, but better explains their relationship with Cloud, and why they see the world the way they do.

I never understood why people make it a mission to decide which character is better. I love them both, they are both amazing, strong character in their own way. So if you want to learn more about them, I highly recommend this book.

I've seen this advertised but never really gave it much of a look since it's a novel.

I'm a massive Tifa-stan so I will give it a flick through if I see it in Borders or Waterstones

I would recommend The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I like to pick random books out by their cover and The Night Circus did not disappoint with a story as interesting as it's cover. It's quite a thrilling tell of rivalry and magic, with a sprinkle of romance in the mix. The author does a really good job at drawing you in and making you feel like the scenes are unraveling before your eyes. The tale sucks you into a mystic and mysterious world, the imagery and detail really paint a picture in your mind as you read. It was not my typical genre of interest, but it ended being a really great read and made for a fun head canon for daydreaming when I was bored.

If you go on holiday to a beach town, preferably a small coastal community, light up a beachside fire and crack open The Shadow Over Innsmouth by H.P. Lovecraft.

At 26,000 words, this novella about a peculiar Massachusetts fishing town is perfect to polish off during the day before retiring to an Air BnB or inn and trying to avoid thinking about fish mutants waggling the door handle of your room.

Enjoy!

The existential dread I felt reading this on a family holiday in Brighton and feeling like I was also a fish person left me with a very memorable holiday..

The Skin Collector by Jeffrey Deaver

Some people choose light hearted books or autobiographies for easy reading when on holiday but this would be my favourite choice.

A great follow up to the bone collector with all the tension and powerful imagery you would imagine from this amazing author. A must ready for any thriller/crime fiction lover!

What more could you want from a holiday on the beach but Sea, sun, sand, sarcasm, Samurais and Sssdismemberment!

Thats right, the best book to have tucked in to the string of your mankini is Deadpool Samurai!

Why? Well because its great...and the pages aren't shiny so its easier to read outside then a normal graphic novel.

(You also have to read it from right to left)
