Hit me with it !

So Fellow Creators ! I would like your honesty and your advice, if you are willing to give it ! I will not take offence to anything said and will take every comment on board !

I show to you a fairly standard description from one of my Youtube shorts. I am looking at them after a conversation on here started by Horror and Cats. Now I am fully aware the Youtube can be a Fickle beast and everyones Journeys are different, BUT, what would you say I am doing "Right" and what am I doing "Wrong" with this Description !?

Funny enough I stopped putting descriptions into YT shorts. I found it to have minimal to no impact because 95%+ Short views come from random scrolling of the viewer, AKA "Shorts Feed." If I have a hashtag or two I want to use, I put it in the title of the Short after the regular title.

That being said, Shorts aren't really my bread and butter because I mostly do updates on the "Cats" part of Horror and Cats in Short form and animal videos are eeeaaassy views lol.

Cat videos RULE THE WORLD !!! hahahahaha I had thought of Stopping, as I had found there was no rhyme or reason that I could find around it, I wouldnt do it, views were up and down, I would do it, views were up and down, id remove links incase that effected anything, views were up and down. Which I get is kinda the thing with shorts, but I would like to have a bit more understanding rather than just throwing rocks in to the dark ! hahahaha.

Tbf my Long form descriptions are some what similar, A short explanation of the video, where they can find me or any videos related to the main vid, chapters if there are any and then tags.

For longform, I think more is better in the description while not just word salad-ing it. Like, when I do list videos or any kind of scripted video, I put the entire script in the description because it is all relevant in one way or another and my lists typically do well with "search term" views.

I have found time of day vs. genre of video makes a big difference when it comes to Shorts, FYI. When I DO put up something gaming related, I do it late in the day US time. Very late, like 11pm. For pet videos, I put them up very early at 9am. IDK the psychology or algorithm reason for that working, but it works for my specific content types and making sense of the algorithm is a gift.

No I completely agree most of my shorts that have done really well as the ones I release at like 11pm GMT, which releases to the U.S audience, but then I feel bad for my peeps over here in the UK ! looool.

Ok so with Long form in particular, less of the word salad tags text, more getting the words in to a cohesive and written out description with all the points of the video as well as any other benefitting factors.

It's hard to assess without seeing the actual content, but a key consideration is the search keywords in your video description. What specific viewer questions or problems does your video address?

For example, I created a video on a BG3 Tavern Brawl build, anticipating questions like 'how to spec a character in BG3 for this perk.' Consequently, I included all relevant keywords in my description. This approach helps search engines index my video effectively, making it more discoverable for queries related to Baldur's Gate character builds.
