$ is best as it's pretty much the world universal currency, so it's the easiest way of valuing rewards in a way that everyone will understand for a worldwide audience.

EveOnlineTutorials's avatar

Ofc, I understand that, I am simply wondering if there are plans there are at all.

Sturmer's avatar

not quite sure what you are talking about? you want to get a bigger number? someone converts 300 usd to HKD and get 2343on their balance, but value remains the same

EveOnlineTutorials's avatar

That is not the point of this post at all. I am talking about conversion rates, not value, not sure how you arrived at that conclusion, bit of a jump there mate

Sturmer's avatar

so what the is the core of the discussion? bad conversion rates at the paypal when you are trying to move funds to another platform?

I want you to read my post carefully and understand what it is I am asking. This is not about greed.

Heya. I’m in the US so I don’t have a dog in the fight so to speak, but this came up a while ago in the suggestions thread. Here’s what Tomsaid about it 😊

that was more about visualization, the bounties and a vallet.

Horror and Cats's avatar

He’s talking about conversion rates. That discussion references conversion rates and involved input from staff. Just adding it for a fuller picture

You got it man.

P.S. I’d have at some point asked the same thing if my fav site wasn’t directly in my native currency lol

EveOnlineTutorials's avatar

Yeh as I said it’s not about money. Every penny I get from here goes on my kids and wife, Celt when my washing machine broke haha. I just wanted to be clear as to what I was asking.

I think a good solution to this would be if there was another way to withdraw the rewards beside PayPal. For example I have a Revolut USD account and to get the money there directly would save me from the PayPal conversion costs. And then I can exchange that USD with Revolut if I want, when I think the rates are better, or save it up and spend it when I travel to the US.

I think other payment options would be a great idea for non-us members who have to suffer for poor conversion rates as well as Paypal fees. Nobody is saying it's JA's fault at all, or that non-us members should get more than US members as that's not fair either.

A choice of other payment options would be a great idea in general, things like;

  • Crypto, ETH/BTC or USTD which seems to be a standard

  • Could direct bank transfers be an option? Though I realize this might pose some understandable security concerns.

  • Other online payment options like Skrill

  • Amazon or Steam credit if member steam accounts were linked

Not sure which of these would be feasible?

Personally getting it in Paypal doesn't bother me TOO much as I keep it in USD and usually pay for stuff in USD anyway but having the options would be nice.

Hi EveOnlineTutorials,

In future we'll be looking to offer both additional payment off-ramps (other than PayPal), as well as alternative 'currencies' - that could be credit, in-game items, etc. as well as other fiat options.

For now USD as our universal currency makes the most sense, and unfortunately all off-ramps come with processing/conversion fees - we deal with those on our end too when making payouts each month.

It's not ideal, I know, particularly for anyone who's taking money out in non-USD denominations, and we will look to improve as we go.

EveOnlineTutorials's avatar

JA DOES NOT need to improve. It’s perfect the way it is. I think people have miss understood what was asking lol. It’s fine. It happens to me all the time

Hey EveOnlineTutorials you're all good 🙂 Discussions like this are helpful as they let us experience the platform from your perspective, and new perspectives lead to new ideas!

Joel already shared some ideas (above), and even though you say we don't need to improve we're always thinking of ways we can! 😁

I think your question was great, it lets people from other countries share their opinions as well. We often just think about US/UK/EU but there are other countries with currencies which might be even a bigger pain to convert to or where people can't access PayPal that easily and we don't know about the issues they are facing.

I agree with you on JA being amazing as it is already, that's why it's so great where there is something new implemented because as we use the platform we didn't think it could be or should be better but the team always finds a way to make some little improvement which makes us go "wow".
