O also on finite resource and the trunks. What happens is this giant mythical looking friendly creature comes along, It's kind of like the spirit of the forest or something, basically whereever it goes the trees and resources regenerate. I cleared a ton of woods around my base so I was pleased to see it all come back when it turned up.

Awesome, good to know! I've seen this being in a different realm, but not yet come across it in my home world. I guess would be interesting to find out if they've done it well enough in early access that you don't suddenly have new trees bursting through your constructions if you've built on land you'd cleared though.

Yeah they came very close to my tower, I was worried!

I wish mine would cut down trees! They just constantly bash rocks in and then leave the mats on the ground.

I haven't tried it (will do when I next logon) But i think you are supposed to give them a specific tool and that in effect is telling them what to do. So give them a combat weapon, a rock bashing tool or a tree cutting tool and that's what they do. It needs fleshing out a lot more the companion system through early access. I have mine carrying a forest worth of wood for me for the tower challenge. Im up on the top of it putting blueprints down, Sometimes they fill the mats in for me others, nothing happens, I have to go all the way down to the bottom, to find out what they are playing at! Hopefully they add in a dialogue wheel on interaction so we can give them specific commands to follow.

Aahh that makes sense! I'll try that later on as well. Mine came with an Axe and so cuts down trees, I'll give her a pickaxe and see what happens!

I haven't even started on my tower yet! And hearing what you and Sturmer are up to has got me worried I won't come anywhere near close!

Ha Ha! Depends how many entries there are and how much time people put in, there are 5 rewards so I think a good chance of getting one. I have gone a bit over the top, Im guessing there will be a height limit and if not there is a max 300 (or 350 can't remember) build pieces by the look of it per realm, so it might come down to who has found the most efficient way to gain height with the least pieces!

I have took it a bit too far and found a bug through trial and error that lets me use just a single piece per height layer, but I don't think that comes under the definition of a tower and it's against the spirit of the challenge, so I decided not to use it.

Just tried it and it does work like that. I put together a very rough video on a few of the things like this I found in my bounty submission for early building tips.

  1. Companions perform tasks depending on which tool is equipped and they are proficient in it (open dialog, click on weapon/tool and hit equip). Sadly they do that only within small proximity, about 15m around you. To solve your problem: stay away from threes or give them mining pick/knife.

  2. Thunks can be chopped too, it just take about 15 hits to get them out. Inefficient way to get wood, but if you want to clean look of your landscape you can remove them.

  3. A huge transparent deer with human hands is a realm boss, he wolders passivly and can even resurrect dead animals. You can use 'Dispel' to get him to the material world, but I do not recommend doing that unless your gear is ~150sh, his is tough!

Your third point here is good to know, he seems to endlessly wander around my base making me nervous.

Update, his name is Carnut and his reviving not just animals, but trees, grass, and even drops. You can manipulate him and make infinite materials. I might do a guide on that later.

That's very cool. In that case, I have a great neighbour.
