Why bother with custom build if not made by you?

Ten years ago I’d be all over the challenge of a from-scratch build but these days I simply do not have the heart for it lol

I never used custom build sites I make research on individual pieces, decide what specs I need and then look around for deals for the individual pieces. Most often it will be ordered from one site but if there is a big sale somewhere else then I don't mind buying from 2-3 different sites.

Then comes the fun part to actually put everything together myself. Like a kid on Christmas day with a new set of Lego 😂

and after countless 'darn... what now...?' eventualy you'll get 'its alive MWAHAHAHAHA'

thats the most satifying part

Ive not bought a prebuild/custom for a long time, I did give it serious thought on my most recent build as it was a big overhaul but decided against it.

Had I gone for it I probably would have chosen scan.co.uk (UK only) although they can be quite restrictive in the options on some builds.

There is value in not building it yourself, time, warranty, less research, nicer cleaner build etc. the price difference isn't huge sometimes either.

I like scan.co.uk as well for buying components, they've been always reliable, prompt with shipment and have some good deals time to time.

Yeah I used to build PCs (back in the Pentium 2 and 3 days) but I just simply don’t have the most up to date/retained knowledge for my own build. I’ve only had laptops for the last decade or so and I’ve lost my edge/desire for building.

Service - Quality - Price

You can always only have 2 of 3.

As Service i consider

  • an exchange of hardware in case of Failure

  • pretestet Setup

  • Complete O/S installation with the usal gaming stuff

  • Perfect understanding of Custom Build (Learnt this with the air pressure)

If you need that above you can´t ask for price tag.

BUT

Since you asked for good Price the answer is following:

Find 2-3 System which you like and excel them. (How much charge they extra to have it from hand built) Is the service worth it?

You don´t like the PSU oder the SSD? You get much cheapter better PSU, go adjust it to your needs.

ON THE OTHER HAND

My flat mate only buys from a german custom build site.No time to install hardware and all the shit... here you g

I've bought from:

  • Scan.co.uk

I've worked with:

  • PCSpecialist

  • CyberpowerUK

  • Ibuypower

  • Corsair

Scan offered amazing customer service, even after the warranty had lapsed. I bought a custom loop watercooled build and the reservoir didn't come with a valve. At the time, I didn't know how to drain it to replace the components. They walked me through it step by step over the phone.

Of the others, Cyberpower offers exceptional customisation, but PCSpecialist would be my pick because they're quicker and more accurate. Of course, I'm talking from a reviewer's standpoint rather than a customer here, but it's the same builders piecing the systems together.

I have used PC Specialist. I have had my laptop for over 8 years and its still running games just fine but obviously you can tailor yours to suit your needs. They do desk tops aswell of course.
