I have a Steam Deck (original, not OLED) and I have found it great for doing grinds in Soulslikes between streams to make sure I'm not under-leveled. Lately I've been playing Lords of the Fallen which is a very pretty game which came out last year, so recent. I have to run it on potato graphics to get the proper smoothness you need, but on a small screen lying in bed or sitting in the kitchen waiting for a pizza to cook, that's not really an issue.
Gotta say though, the ROG Ally X seems to have finally stepped up to the Deck in a big way. More expensive, yes. However, it is more powerful in every way and while you can install Windows on the Deck and get the Xbox app running (I've done it on mine), the Ally X having Windows/Xbox/Steam and more all ready to go is a boon which can't be ignored.
ROG has made a couple models trying to compete with the Deck, but to me, seems like they've finally made a winner.
