As you stated "paywalled"

This is utter nonsense, my son has won more FPS gaming competitions than I ever could and he sits on a kitchen chair with a cushion because he finds it comfortable and in his words "can't slouch if you fall out the chair"

Gaming is about skill and learning the game, chairs make a difference? I have a 400-pound GT gaming chair and I still suck at Fortnite! So if this is true, GT needs to give me a refund and their latest gaming chair!

Gaming chairs generally are garbage ergonomics-wise. If someone wishes to read the full research Aeron vs. Gaming Chair - Performance, Perception and Muscle Stiffness in Video Game Players: A Comparative Investigation (medrxiv.org)

My guess is they failed to tune Aeron chairs, as they have a dozen settings =)

I think someone may have given those "scientists" a little monetary incentive to write that.

According to papers - Secret Lab Inc. =)))

tbh if a gaming chair company wants to conduct a small sample study to show that their chair improves win rates I have no qualms. It's like how Guinness book of world records work with companies to break a record - they're effectively a marketing campaign

I used to have a very comfortable office chair. back home Then in the UK all the chairs I could afford were garbage. Even the "gaming chair" I bought for £70 is garbage. I tried my friend's Secret Lab gaming chair and it felt like heaven but they are so expensive :(

So I guess it doesn't matter what brand it is, if you feel comfortable in it, you are winning.

I’ve got a 8 year old, $80, armless office chair from Staples. Never sat in anything more comfortable. Gaming chairs always feel nice for a half hour and then I realize I’ve got no support anywhere I need it.

Haha i went in the reverse i threw out the "gaming chair" and ordered an ergonomic one! My gaming chair was done in tbf tho!

I just looked the author up using my uni login. She's done a lot of work in and around healthcare and gaming, mainly esports, but none of it relates to gaming chairs.

I'd take it with a huge pinch of salt, as it's likely the company funded the research and there's no sign it went through a peer review process.

Yeah it says in the link sturmer provided.

Conflict of Interest 259 We would like to disclose that this project received funding from Secret Lab Inc. We 260 acknowledge and appreciate their support in making this research endeavor possible.

Sure but Sturmer (sorry, my new favorite joke)

Ah, I missed the link! So that's double confirmation :D

I mean.. who else is going to fund research like that otherwise..
