I’m 53 years old and l’m was enjoying the 4th GENERATION with SUPER NINTENDO and the 6th GENERATION with the PLAYSTATION 2 was seem intense for me

For me the best is the 7th, there we had the biggest improvement jump in graphics and gameplay. After that we have a lot of improvements, but the diference between the generations are minimal.

6th for me. Third party gaming bonanza. GameCube and PS2 were my home consoles during that time

Just like which Pokemon Generation is the best - it all depends on when you grew up.

I think 7th Generation was the most evenly matched as every console seemed to have it's own audience to cater to but I think the best console overall has to be PS4 just for the large library of games it has (especially since the flood gates had really opened up on the downloadable market by that point)

5th Generation, when games that came out where solid, fun and had effort put into them.

I don't really have a favourite generation. I grew up in the 90s and 00s, so I was lucky to play some really awesome games and also saw technical enhancements that improved what came before.

I have and always be a Nintendo Fan and loved my GameBoy Color, Advance, DS Lite, 3DS, GameCube, Wii and Switch.

I think the 6th was the best! The PS2 was incredible in so many ways, especially for its games that were like works of art, apart from the fact that it was the beginning of the direct competition that Sony would start to have!

It's the 6th generation of consoles, no contest.

The PS2 has an amazing catalog of games, and backwards compatibility. Final Fantasy 10 thru 13, MGS 2 and 3, Ico, so many classics!

The GameCube had innovative, charming games. Metroid Prime was a personal favorite of mine. Melee will never truly die, and that's to be admired.

The XBox was a pleasant surprise, with Halo CE & 2 (of course) and the hidden gem Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath among many others.

And who can forget the last hardware hurrah from Sega, the Dreamcast? It may have failed commercially, but it is beloved by fans to this day. And for good reason! Personally I'd kill for a copy of the best Gundam game to date, Rise from the Ashes!

The 5º Generation. These supoussed the big jump from 2D to 3D Enviroment, joint the sounds, music and BSO plenty of quality. Another big step in hardware: analog controls, new game pads, new analog joysticks, HOTAS, wheels, pedals, piano, guitars, etc etc.

Definitely 4th and 6th generation:

• 4th taught a lot of us how to play and have fun under simple conditions.

• 6th invited to mature to the advent of the new internet gaming era.

It's not a very glamorous answer, but I think the 7th gen (Xbox 360/PS3/Wii) was the best. In my experience, it's the generation where videogames came of age. In the 5th and 6th generation, 3D was still a relatively novel thing and there was a real lack of 2D games as a result, but the 7th gen saw them come back to prominence and co-exist with 3D games. This was largely thanks to Xbox Live Arcade giving rise to indie games as something enjoyed by the mainstream. It's also when online gaming became mainstream on consoles, and twin stick controls were standardised for 3D movement.

Typically, everything from the 360 era and beyond has aged really well and is totally playable today, where games from the PS2 and earlier are harder to go back to. When people talk about the 8th and 9th generations feeling underwhelming, I think it's because the 7th gen figured so much stuff out that we didn't need any more revolutions.
