Right now I'm reading 'Qaum, Mulk, Sultanat: Citizenship and National Belonging in Pakistan' for an essay I'm writing about nationalism in Pakistan. I'm quite excited to get my essays for uni finished so I can read for leisure properly again :)

I really struggle to read if it isn't for leisure. Have you got anything lined up for when you finish?

If it's a topic I'm pretty interested in the lines can blur a bit! I'm going to read Flights by Olga Tokarczuk - I've read a book by her before and really enjoyed it :)

I have actually fell asleep having to read for education 😅 thankfully my careers have been more practical based.

I am on this right now, it's his new series, of hardback books.

I didn't know he had a new series coming! I will have to get these when I have finished all my other books I want to read.

I've got to let my husband know about Metro, he loves the games. He also had to tell me what The Last Ronin was when we passed by it at the store, he started with "You're not gonna like it" lol. I'm currently in the middle of a second book in a series, A Feast for Starving Stone (Chefs of the Five Gods Book 2) by Beth Cato. It's fantasy with a pretty different element, people blessed with culinary skills are actually warriors/wield magic. I try to read a bit every day, usually before bed.

made a note of this because I bloody love that game, many thanks :)

I think iv heard of that series, my wife loves fantasy books so she may have read them.

I was wrong, my mrs hasnt read them. No idea where I heard of it before.

She might want to check them out!

Im not reading anything at the moment and one of the reason why I hoped for a books community, so I can get recommendations from here and read what others are! Too much to choose from so I don't choose anything.

Paul's avatar

It can be hard deciding. Most of the books I listen to or read are either warhammer novels or graphic novels but im sure you find better recommendations from the more adult adults 😅

Warhammer books are sick mate, I love them

Monthly pulls from the local are: X Men '97 and Power Girl But in terms of novels I've recently gotten into the Monogatari series since a bunch were on sale on Humble Bundle recently and a new series of the anime has just been announced+ trailer released. Other than that I'm reading a prequel to Devil May Cry (yep that game) which for some reason is silly expensive on Amazon so I had found a PDF online of it

I'm currently half way through The Sword of Kaigen, it's been an exellent read that gets heavy at times but handles a number of difficult topics very well.

Cannot reccommend it highly enough, especially if you're a fantasy nut like myself. It might even take the top spot off The Hobbit for me as my all time fav.

I'm halfway through Joe Abercrombie's The First Law series and I'm really enjoying it. It's no thrills, no gimmicks fantasy packed with great characters, intriguing world law, and lots of humour to balance out the violence. I'm only on book two of the main trilogy, and there are a couple more standalone entries in the same world. I suspect I'm going to devour them all.

The killer across the table by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker

If your interested in true crime and criminal profiling it's a must read.

The next instalment of Nullform just came out on Kindle Unlimited. It is a very gritty horror/action/mystery series, almost portal fantasy.

The hero awakens in a dark world of metal corridors with someone else's arms and legs attached to him. He must complete tasks for 'mother' to earn food and physical enhancements and to avoid having his borrowed limbs repossessed. He must survive the monsters and other desperate people in this unique hell to get stronger and to escape.

That looks brilliant, I might have to check it out
