Im not speaking from experience of USING services, just research I did into what others use. Haven't paid for any although I did use the 7 day epidemic sound trial to be able to use and publish the nature doc vid using their music.

For purely just music I will probably use Epidemicsound (in the future), purely for convenience as it's not too expensive I feel on the annual plan. They whitelist your Chanel in the content id system for all their stuff, so there is no worries/hassle of getting copyright strikes and having to counter claim by filling in forms and uploading proof of your licence etc as long as you are subscribed at the time of publishing.

Others I came across are more expensive but are a mix of content rather than just music. These and Epidemic seem to be the most used.

I don't know if they have the channel whitelisting function on these or it's a case of downloading and filing away the license, then digging it out if/when you get a claim.

Be careful with free sites, as anyone can upload stuff and claim it's license free. It's your problem, not theirs if it isn't. Obviously there is the YouTube audio library as well which I understand is very safe to use.

When I say epidemic is reasonably priced, I mean in the context of if you are getting decent payments from here each month for taking part, then it can be self funding from that, without having to use your primary income from your day job.

An annual sub could be paid for with 1 month of high volume participation in bounties on here, and then you've got another 11 months of usage for all your content after that.

Obviously once the masses arrive here it will be a lot more competitive, meaning there is no guarantee that payments will stay as high for each individual. it may not be a viable long term way of self funding the content rights in the same way it is today. So be wary of long term payment commitments is what I'm trying to say as you can't assume the average payment you get today from here will continue once there are more users.

That’s a good point. I love feedback and welcome it because it helps me see things that I might have overlooked. Bounties here are nice but as the platform grows competition will be more fun but also challenging. It’s ok. That’s a good thing. But for us now it’s a good kick start especially for me as a new content creator. 11 months is a good head start, If I have to rely solely on bounties still after 11 months then I have failed 😬 I might still hold on the epidemic sounds. Mostly the music I use from creators are ok in past videos. Also about 4-5 videos I did for a friends channel. As long as they are given the proper credits. For the beginning I might stick to free stuff first.

Yeah that's what I'm going to do for now and see how I get on. I might sub later if I feel it will add enough value or I get bored of using the stuff off the YouTube library.

There are content creators who recommend Lickd for mainstream music by popular artists that we know, the reason being mainstream music is more relatable and helps in making your videos connect with ppl. But that is expensive and they charge per track as well for the popular ones. I might do that when I get to a higher level eventually I will do that. But it’s not something for quite sometime still. My end goal is to be able to drop everything and focus on my YT channel.

Sorry one more. This one is expensive and probably the most premium quality stuff. It's called musicbed, it's €30 a month or from €59 per song. Have a look and you will see why it costs so much more though. Sort of quality you would see used on TV or adverts.

They also have a similar auto rights clearing system to epidemic which appeals to me a lot over the hassle I read people have using the others I listed.

nice. I will have to give it a look. Not for now 🙂 but it’s something to work towards to

For far I’ve exclusively used the YT Creator studio library. So far I haven’t felt the need to go get anything more. Even for the Resident Evil rap battle video, I just took a song on there and played it at about 130% speed to get the vibe I needed.

I mostly use that too mixed with others. Nice, I ask to I get an idea roughly what others are doing as well 😄 so I’m not off track

Look for NoCopyright music libraries, there plenty on Soundcloud

Divergence by Filo Starquez (soundcloud.com)Balynt - Places (Vlog No Copyright Music) (New Version) by Vlogs No Copyright Music (New Version) (soundcloud.com) and much more, just make sure to read the use rules, some ask to credit them, other dont.

There are AI services, who compose generic music loops, which are copyright free too

nice I will have to check those out. I’ve heard of the ai music services but never tried it. I do dabble with music myself and made 1-2 original tracks but that’s a whole other thing that is very time consuming. Fun but not really my expertise 😛

I found a few artists on Youtube who also have their stuff on Spotify and you can use them. Haven't had issues with them so far, so will stick with those when I'm not using ingame music with the game footage. Here is one example:

nice, I will have to check it out. So far I’ve been using no copyright sounds NCS with no issues. Just want to know what other creators are using 😄

Thanks for posing the question! I've not used much music in my content to date, my videos are EVE focused and utilise in-game sound and narration, but I'm looking to pivot the style a little and incorporate more music so this has been a valuable thread!

Glad it has helped someone as well. I’ve been using no copyright sounds for awhile with no issue, but I didn’t have a community to ask or check with like etc… am I on the right track? What are others doing? 😃 back in the day successful channels didn’t have anywhere to check and it’s a lonely journey, glad this community is so positive and supportive.
