Ever wanted to see a series of Elite Dangerous SRV stunts, including flips, barrel rolls, and massive jumps? Well, it's your lucky day, because that's exactly what we have for you, and trust us, there are some impressive trickshots in here. Our community of commanders have transformed the SRV in Elite Dangerous from a humble reconnaissance vehicle into a kickass stunt machine, so you can watch an intergalactic show from the comfort of your home.
So without further ado, here are the best Elite Dangerous SRV stunts, trickshots, jumps, flips, barrel rolls, and everything in between.
Alec's tower ascension
Hardcore parkour! Alec_Turner, who also had the idea for this challenge in the first place (thanks, Alec!), has showcased his SRV piloting skills by ascending the Thargoid Spire in HIP 19870 by leaping from one petal platform to the next. Then, if that wasn't enough, he drives straight off the edge of the first spire to land on another spire and uses it as a ramp for an impressive finale. He throws a few spins in for good measure too. Talk about using the environment to your advantage.
RSgurr's 7km plummet
A challenger approaches! RSgurr has taken a similar approach for their SRV stunts, but rather than climbing a Thargoid Spire, they've decided to leap from the top of one. Watch them position themselves at the summit before accelerating and flying through the air, eventually landing 7km away on a petal leaf in the distance. This was at the Spire Site at Pegasi Sector IH-U b3-4 B 1 e, and the video also features some impressive editing to set the clip up.
XCezor's Thargoid playground
While the last two entries used Thargoid Spires as platforms and obstacles, XCezor has turned an entire Thargoid Surface Site into their SRV playground, including a crashed Titan mothership. This is a highlight reel with plenty of different stunts, each one just as impressive and daring as the last.
Gadnok does a barrel roll
The "do a barrel roll" meme is a classic piece of internet history, originating from Star Fox 64, and Gadnok embodies it perfectly in this short clip. Watch them soar off a hill in their SRV, barrel roll to the left, then do the same again in the opposite direction, before parking perfectly beneath their ship and boarding in one smooth motion. Peppy Hare would be proud.
TheHappyHans's trio of tricks
Crater skater? We love this video because of the camera angle. Rather than putting us in the driving seat, we get to watch TheHappyHans perform three SRV tricks from afar, taking advantage of some "crazy steep edged cliffs". It's giving "parent just watching their kid enjoy themselves" vibes, which is very wholesome.
Yan's backflip
This is a short but sweet clip, as yan57436 performs a very smooth backflip in their SRV off a small hill on snow-laden terrain. Nicely done.
Hunter's fearless feline
The creativity behind this clip is immense, as Hunter has put the classic meme of the nodding cat behind the wheel of their SRV as they tumble through space. They're having the time of their life, but Hunter does warn that this clip may come with motion sickness, which we can confirm. They stick the landing pretty well though!
Slamscape's soaring spacejump
If you're feeling a little nauseous after Hunter's tricks, worry not: Slamscape's feat is a much smoother ride. They don't attempt any fancy moves, but that isn't to say it's any less impressive, because they get some serious airtime and soar across an industrial installation. We imagine the workers are on the surface doing the classic "Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's just Slamscape showing off again…".
CMDR Henckes's perfect landing
Sometimes simple is best, and much like Yan's entry above, CMDR Henckes has gone for the same style. There's not much of a ramp but he still manages to get considerable air, with an incredibly smooth flip and landing.
Block9's epic planetary acrobatics
Block9 has titled their video "epic planetary acrobatics" and to be honest, that hits the nail on the head. This impressively edited video features a number of different clips, all with numerous camera angles as they gallivant around this rocky desert planet. There's also one trick where they land on top of the cockpit of their ship, which is commendable.
Finally, there's also this clip from CMDR_M, but it can't be shared off-YouTube so we've just included the link. It's worth a watch though, as the six-minute long video features lots of SRV exploration, including a huge jump off the top of a Thargoid Spire.
