Outside the epic expansion trailers, there aren’t many EVE Online cinematics. That’s why we challenged our community of content creators and EVE Online aficionados to create the best cinematic EVE Online videos that they could. We’re not exaggerating when we say that they’re some of the best reward submissions that we’ve received since the dawn of Just About EVE Online. So strap in and get ready for a day at the movies, EVE style.
EVE Online - A Miner’s Journey
It was Eaglefirefly who first suggested we run the challenge that led to these videos, and they excelled in the challenge they proposed. From the very first syllable of the epic voiceover, viewers know they’re in for a treat. It’s professional, tense, and intriguing - setting up a mystery we want to see explored.
EVE Online Origins of Pochven
“This is a good day to die.” Featuring all the lens flare and contrasting blues and reds we’ve come to expect from Hollywood hits, Celltear's EVE Online cinematic is a vibrant retelling of the story of Pochven, featuring rousing narration, snippets of real gameplay chat, and the gripping story of the mega-alliances that fought for Pochven from 2021 to 2023. It’s part two of three. The third part is in production, but if you like what you see, we advise you go back to part one.
We’re not the only ones who loved it. The top comment on the video reads: “Parts one and two are possibly the best non-CCP EVE videos I've seen. Beautiful work.”
SALVAGE
Rixx Javix's EVE Online cinematic takes the form of a movie trailer for an imaginary horror movie called Salvage. It features some fantastic creative touches, like spaceships jarringly moving to a ticking clock. We suspect that if someone came across Rixx’s trailer without knowing what EVE was, they’d assume it was for a real sci-fi horror movie, and that they’d be very excited to watch it. We know we’d do so in a heartbeat.
“I’ve had this idea in the back of my head for a while, and this bounty finally brought it to the front. So instead of just clips, I thought it’d be more fun to follow a ship and create a fake teaser trailer for a space horror film. Enjoy.”
EVE Online Cinematics - Vargur Trailer
LukaZaharin stepped outside their comfort zone to produce this video, and it paid off - big time. Their EVE Online cinematic also takes the form of a trailer, but this time for a fan-favourite ship: the Vargur. Luka’s video highlights the myriad moving parts and cool touches in the Vargur’s intricate design, demonstrating once and for all why it’s so beloved.
Jackdaw’s Tranquil Odyssey: A Meditative Space Odyssey with Piano
“Cinematicity isn’t always about speed and intensity. Today, I explored the vastness of space through gentle piano chords.”
Not dissimilar to Luka’s video, Sturmer's take on an EVE Online cinematic highlights another EVE Online ship with a unique design. From the video title and Sturmer’s intro above, you can probably get a good idea of what to expect, but you won’t realise how beautiful it is until you watch it. It’s tranquil and relaxing, even when Sturmer is getting blasted.
EVE Online cinematic - Jita 4-4
Over to Limal for the next video, which continues the epic vibes. Limal masterfully pilots a Squall around New Eden’s foremost megastructure, as the usual Jita gankers go about their business. Limal has a challenge for you: name the soundtrack. Add your guesses in the comment section!
The Grid - An EVE Online Cinematic Montage
Kane Carnifex was one of the earliest members of Just About EVE Online, and it’s been a joy to watch his videos progress from great to greater. This is one of his best yet; it feels like the first four minutes of an epic sci-fi movie. If it were, you can bet your bottom interstellar kredit that we’d be staying for the whole film.
EVE Online Structures Montage
Since the days of Deep Space Nine, the idea of living in a gigantic space station has intrigued sci-fi buffs. EVE Online allows players to build their own and to besiege others, and Dydo rightfully thought that EVE’s designs deserve some love. That inspired them to create the beautiful cinematic below, which highlights the many types of structure found in New Eden.
“Have you ever taken the time to admire EVE’s structures? There are so many of them, and we pass through them so many times each day that we sometimes forget how beautiful and well-crafted they are. This video attempts to give you that opportunity by showcasing some of them. I didn’t find the time to add the names of the structures to make them more appealing, but hopefully I’ve made up for it by using music fit for the journeys we EVE players take every day.”
