Real Life Politics - Is what my reality show would be called.

My idea would happen every 5 years or whenever there is a big election like what is heading our way in the UK very soon where the main players in each political party (I mean the majority of the government front bench and the PM etc) each must spend one month (built into the election timetable) life swapping with someone in the area they will be in charge of, so for example who ever is the minister for health (or potential minister for health if their party wins) will be working in the NHS for 1 month, and followed everywhere with cameras.

Now the PM has a special placement which will be voted on by the public before the show starts, so it could be something like they must live off benefits for 1 month and see how much of a struggle life can be for some people whilst attending local support services for example.

Not only would this break records as everyone would want to see what the people they are voting for are really like and i am sure they would break character during a full month of being watched, they would be thrust into the public sphere and a world which i think they have no clue about, they seem to live in a bubble and not in reality. Also the beneficial outcome of completing this show that they should be more well rounded and realise the world they are trying to run/ help / serve.

Also the public gets to vote on their favourite candidates at the end of the month and this will impact the funds which the political party receives for spending on campaigning for 2 months before the election as all funds received by all parties goes into a central pot which is then divided up based on candidates performance in this show as decided by the public and not just given to whatever party receives the donation initially.

This would be a massive shift and really change the landscape of politics for the better i hope!

Clumsy Challenge: Slowest Wins

Format:

"Clumsy Challenge: Slowest Wins" is a reality TV show that flips the concept of obstacle courses on its head. Inspired by shows like "American Ninja Warrior" but with a twist, teams of two compete in obstacle challenges designed to test their coordination, balance, and speed. However, the goal isn't to finish first but to navigate the course as slowly as possible without stalling or making it obvious that they're faking it. Teams must demonstrate clumsiness and poor acrobatic moves, making for hilarious and unpredictable entertainment.

Potential Twists:

Penalty Points - Teams that appear to be intentionally stalling will receive penalty points, adding an extra layer of strategy.

Audience Choice - Viewers can vote on additional challenges or obstacles to be added to the course in real-time, increasing the unpredictability.

Appeal:

"Clumsy Challenge: Slowest Wins" offers a fresh and comedic take on the traditional obstacle course format. The show will attract viewers with its blend of physical comedy, unexpected twists, and the unique challenge of performing poorly while still making progress. It’s perfect for families and fans of light-hearted competition, ensuring a broad audience appeal and plenty of laughs. it will be a magnet for "Fail Army" lowers!

The Keymaster

10 contestants battle it out in a series of daily physical and mental challenges over the course of 3 weeks to either win keys or or steal keys from other contestants but only one key will unlock the door to the grand prize both a game of skill and chance the more keys you have the better the chance of unlocking the door. The audience can also vote to give for a contestant to give them a chance to earn bonus keys

Who will become the Keymaster.

I think it would work because it has the element of the audience being able to follow their favourite person and get behind them. The more involved the audience get with the progression of the contestants the better.

I love this:

My idea would be putting people in other peoples lives so jobs, hobbies and parenting i think it would be good because then the term "take a walk in the other persons shoes" would become a real thing this would keep people more mindful of what other people are going through and we do it for about a month in each others shoes so they can get a real taste for what the other persons life would be like and of course if you complete it a massive cash sum for both participants .

Right, how about this for a Channel 4 or Five show, Pet Paradise.

It’s the gentle style of something like Shed of the Year or The Repair Shop, but this is about people who’ve built these epic areas and spaces for their pets. Like, imagine a 3 storey dog house complete with tennis court. The biggest gerbil maze you ever saw. A garden transformed into a cat’s playground with ledges and tunnels galore.

I’m sure there’ll be some people out there who’ve built some amazing spaces for their pets, and I’d be curious to watch it. I’ve seen worse things on tele! 😅

My show would be called Boomers vs. Zoomers.

Playing on the discourse between the two generations it'd be a simple process of trading places to do everyday activities:

  • Cooking - Zoomers will need to find a recipe in a book, Boomers will need to use social media such as instagram or TikTok and then each one tastes each other's recipe

  • Vocation - this one is a little trickier but I think traditional jobs such as warehouse work/ apprenticeship customer service for the Zoomer compared to making a live streaming for the Boomer. This one may be trickier as I think it'll be over a week rather than just a day

  • Dating - Zoomer going out and trying to meet people, Boomer is to use dating apps

I'd like to keep it with a tangible and understandable goal to show a clear winner i.e. which dish tastes better, who is more successful in the job, and who gets a date etc.

Living in the age we are now it's easy to see the advantages the Boomer would have with technology but hopefully the handicap would be around how they navigate and use the technology. I think there can be interesting challenges where the Boomer and Zoomer are put back into their element and see which one is better i.e. experience vs technological convenience.

EDIT After typing this all out, I realise that it is a bit too similar to @Junni submission so I will change mine:

So you think you can be a Landlord? An opportunity for would-be buyers to own a Buy to Let property to see whether they can turn a profit. It will be over a year to see whether young people that are unhappy with the state of the housing market are able to capitalise on using property as an investment. It doesn't just have to be Buy to Let but also living in the same place as your tenant in a lodger situation.

This comes off the backs of many that criticise landlords as having it easy rather than the stresses of trying to protect your property, what happens when the tenant doesn't pay rent, calls out in the middle of the night, and then repairing and renovating before the next set of tenants move in

'Back in my day..."

Take of set of people from the Boomer Generation (anything pre GenX really) and have them placed "in the lives" of someone from the Millennial Generation. (I wouldn't suggest the opposite, no reason to make the early-20 kids realize how bad off they really are.)

Have the Boomers cut off from anything in their real life and then try to get a job that actually covers the necessities, having to live with roommates because rent on their own isn't possible anymore, how to get medical care when they need it and all without the access of their parent's finances.

(I know I've given up any hope of ever getting a home of my own. I ignore certain things because I know one medical issue will essentially bankrupt me. I look at where everything is going and I'm afraid for the world my children are trying to navigate. Those types of things, having the isolated set-for-life Boomer forced to experience? They'd put that on TV.)

My idea may hit close to the bone for some but thats kind of the idea.

You get a group of men at various stages in their life that have all been struggling with their mental health for various reasons.

They live together, participate in group and individual therapy but also do fun team building things and challenges to win things for the group (no teams or individual challenges though).

Why? Because dispite social media pushing the "men cry too" thing, its still a huge blind spot for alot of people. Seeing these men live together, support eachother and hear their stories in real time may open peoples eyes to what life is actually like to be male and struggling in silence.

I have a really wild idea for a reality TV show. Imagine 10 Warhammer painter artists locked in a single house, where they live and each day have to complete various painting tasks. The twist is that paints and brushes are limited, so they need to figure out how to collaborate to complete their daily tasks while also competing against each other.

"Only the Best Brush Survives: Paint or Perish!"

This show will be successful for several reasons:

The limited resources and daily painting tasks will create tension and excitement, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. The mix of collaboration and competition will add depth and complexity to the interactions between contestants.

Featuring talented Warhammer painters will showcase incredible artistry and creativity, appealing to both hobbyists and a broader audience interested in craftsmanship and skill-based competitions.

The need to collaborate despite being competitors will lead to fascinating social dynamics, alliances, and conflicts, providing the drama that reality TV audiences love.

The show will be visually captivating, with close-ups of intricate painting techniques, vibrant Warhammer models, and the creative process, making it aesthetically pleasing and inspiring.

Brilliant. I'd watch it. The Great British Paint-Off.

I'm constantly hearing about all these reality love shows about attractive, extroverted people, but what I think would be entertaining is having a show like that but with people like me, shy, introverted, with as much experience with dating as with driving expensive cars. Not only would it be entertaining, but I think could also actually offer an interesting look at the other side of the coin for people.

SO what if there was a show where a contestant is given a large sum of money. and the friends and family are part of the show but they believe the money is just winnings and the cameras follow the announcement.

But the real purpose is that the contestant has to give them no money and do good in peoples lives for a few days. and they follow the contestant who can change peoples lives in the streets. whilst filming the family begrudgingly watching it all but not wanting to appear greedy. To make it more believable the family can be led to believe its a much larger sum of of money than it really is to warrant a camera crew.

you should get some arguments , or sly ways that they beg for money, with the general feel good of watching someone change peoples lives. and if they succeed they get to win a pot of money.

EDIT - I just did this because I think my previous response came across as rather rude.

Okay so the idea is:

Live the lives of those less fortunate than you.

Now whilst we have the "Rich living as the poor" type of reality shows, my idea was based on a work principle. So we would take company executives and have them switch with say street cleaners, cleaners etc.

So the idea would be that people would gain perspective on those less fortunate than them. So not only would they have to work as workers in the public sector, they would also for that week, have to live on the wages, that they pay those public sector workers.

I think it would be interesting to see what say, a cleaner, like my wife for instance, would do with several thousands of income per week instead of just hundreds.

As I said, perspective and the higher-ups see how those they hire and pay work and live.

Why do I get the feeling this idea came from being the victim of some arsehole gym-bro posting on twitter?

FirestormGamingTeam's avatar

Ha no, I just think it would be a good idea. Humans could learn from seeing what others do.

I am a massive wrestling fan, and my day job is a graphic designer- ultimate goal is to work for AEW as a motions designer (I will get there one day!!).I always thought that the graphic designers and motion designers do not get enough of a spotlight so maybe a reality show where it explores all the pre production before a show. And this could apply to different this and could be released as a limited series.

For example;

Episode 1 - AEW. Explore the world of the prep for a PPV. The inspiration for the poster designs, how a promo vid is made, the work that goes in to the set build.

Episode 2 - A concert

Episode 3 - Football game

Episode 4 - a podcast

FYI I’ve attached an INSANE graphical poster of AEW which is stunning!

More importantly, the toughest question is, who you picking, Kenny Omega or Will Osprey? lol

I would LOVE a reality show about students in 1st year accom (so much goes down!). This would be more like educating yorkshire or below deck in the fact that people on the show aren't going to win or play anything. We're just watching them get on with there lives :) You could also put cameras on them when they go on a night out... kinda like the secret life of a cat

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Hey Stella - I've just spotted that this is a 'reply' rather than a 'bounty submission', but you've still got half a day to re-enter it as a bounty submission!
